Demon Slayer Shinobu

The first installment of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is less than one month away from hitting the U.S. theatres. Tickets have already been on sale for a couple of days now, and promotions won’t be stopping anytime soon. The studio is going all out to keep up the hype of the film, and it’s working impressively well. The series will wrap up the story in the trilogy film, with the first part focusing on only a few major fights. We have already seen the first glimpse of Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka fighting against Akaza, the Upper Moon Three responsible for Kyokuro Rengoku’s death.

The fourth key visual of the film hypes the series’s best girl, Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, who is facing off against Doma, the Upper Moon Three. The match-up was already revealed in the first trailer, and now a special key visual and a promotional video have been released just to hype up the fight between these two characters. The visual’s tagline reads, “All in for this one strike.” While the manga fans perfectly understand the meaning behind those words, anime-only fans will get to experience Shinobu’s sheer dedication on September 12th, 2025.

Shinobu Kocho Has More Than One Reason to Fight Doma in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer Shinobu Doma Key Visual

As the Upper Rank Two, Doma’s powers are beyond something a Hashira can handle, let alone Shinobu, who doesn’t have enough arm strength to even slice off an ordinary demon’s head. However, the Insect Hashira has a unique fighting style thanks to her extensive knowledge of poisons for demons. Adding in her exceptional speed also gives her some advantage, but the fight will be more challenging than anything she has ever faced before. The key visual highlights her tension as she’s sweating and trying to strike the demon. On the other hand, Doma simply looks like he’s having fun, ready to take on whatever she throws at him.

This will also be the first time the anime will reveal Doma’s powers, which made him climb to the rank of Upper Two. Aside from her sense of duty that comes from being a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, there’s another reason driving her desire to kill the demon. The trailer revealed that Shinobu’s sister, Kanae Kocho, the former Flower Hashira, was killed by Doma. Kanae was bright and cheerful, unlike Shinobu, who used to have a much different personality than now.

Kanae is also the one who adopted Kanao Tsuyuri as her sister, who was in Shinobu’s care after her death. Shinobu held deep resentment for demons, not just for Doma, who only cause tragedy and destruction in their wake. She also sealed away her emotions and put on a fake smile in hopes of one day getting her revenge. Tanjiro was the only one able to sense those emotions from her despite her perfect facade. Now that the anime is in its final arc, the time has finally arrived.

The warriors of Demon Slayer are some of the best fighters around in anime, full stop. They put their lives on the line every day, protecting people from a threat most aren’t even aware of. Their adventures are full of high stakes, unforgettable backstories, and imaginative battles. In this world, one cannot become a full and proper Demon Slayer until they have passed on final test. Once passed, each slayer receives a shiny new uniform and a Nichirin Sword, one of the few ways to reliably kill a demon. The swords are incredibly impressive, to say the least, but they have nothing on Tanjiro Kamado’s secret weapon: his skull.

Tanjiro is the main protagonist of the series, so he was always meant to have something up his sleeve. Most fans probably assumed that his dramatic secret weapon would revolve around his Sun Breathing, but his real ultimate move was revealed pretty early in the series: Tanjiro’s infamous headbutt. This fallback weapon is easily the most underrated tool in the series, and it’s also good for a few laughs.

The First Few Appearances of Tanjiro’s Ultimate Headbutt

While Tanjiro’s head may not be capable of permanently putting a demon down the way his blades can, there is something deeply satisfying about his go-to headbutt move. The best part about this weapon is that it can be used across both sides of the line, at least as far as Tanjiro is concerned. More on that in a moment.

As an untrained slayer, Tanjiro uses this move on the first demon he encounters, and it becomes a bit of a running theme. That poor demon took Tanrjio’s skull right to the head, not once, but twice. That should be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

As a reminder, Tanjiro also headbutted a rock during training, so clearly one does not need to be living to be subjected to such a brutal attack. Who knows, it may have even been a strengthening exercise for Tanjiro’s skull, which is a terrifying thought.

Even Demon Slayers Are Not Safe

The ultimate headbutt move seems to come for one of two reasons. First, when Tanjiro is at the end of his rope. The second instance occurs when Tanjiro feels called upon to defend his sister. For example, the first time Tanjiro used his headbutt attack against an ally, it was when Inosuke was trying to kill Nezuko (whom Zenitsu faithfully defended). Tanjiro came out swinging, well, not literally, though he did grab his fellow slayer and headbutt him into unconsciousness.

This was arguably a bad lesson for Tanjiro to learn, as he has since held the belief that his headbutt move circumvents the rules against Demon Slayers fighting. During his trial with the Hashira, Tanjiro escapes and headbutts the Wind Hashira to the ground. While he was scolded for that move, it didn’t really stop him, as he would later beg for permission to headbutt him a few more times.

Naturally, Tanjiro pulled out his infamous move again when he saw Tengen Uzui trying to carry off Aoi Kanzaki on a mission. Sadly for Tanjiro, this proved to be the end of his headbutting streak. The Hashira dodged the ultimate move, but it was still a good shot. On the bright side, that loss clearly has not dulled Tanjiro Kamado’s desire to headbutt, as that move has come back around a few more times since then.

The Origin of Tanjiro Kamado’s Secret Weapon

Believe it or not, the subject of Tanjiro’s incredibly dense skull does come up in conversation. Supposedly, his mother, Kie Kamado, also has a hard skull. Tanjiro recalls a moment in family history where she may or may not have headbutted a boar to protect her children. Coming from anybody else, the story would sound outlandish. From Tanjiro’s family…it’s more believable than we would like to admit.

Unfortunately, it would seem that not all of Kie Kamado’s children inherited her blissfully durable skull. During the Mugen Train arc, Nezuko desperately tries to wake her brother, falling back on his natural move. Not only does it not work, but she receives a bloody face for her troubles. This scene, while comical, proves that Tanjiro’s skull can be used both offensively and defensively.

Looking back at the sheer number of times Tanjiro’s ultimate headbutt attack worked, it’s pretty clear that his skull is, unironically, one of the best weapons in the series. That’s probably for the best, considering how often he falls back on his old reliable tactics.

The first installment of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film trilogy hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025 to a continuously strong reception. The film’s promotions are in full swing, with its box office performance already breaking multiple records in Japan. The majority of anime films take at least a few weeks or months to reach international audiences. Demon Slayer fans won’t have to wait long. The global release is scheduled for September 12th, 2025, with tickets for both U.S. and Canadian screenings available starting August 15th. The date was confirmed during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 weekend, which took place from July 24th-27th. The official X handle of the anime confirmed that the film is coming to IMAX and several large formats.

The tickets are available on the official Demon Slayer movie website, so grab yours now before they are sold out. The film adapts the final arc of the manga, concluding the centuries-long fight between the Demon Slayer Corps and demons. The trilogy film was under production since 2020, around the same time the manga reached its conclusion. However, Ufotable only announced their plans for the final arc after the Hashira Training Arc anime season reached its conclusion. The anime has only released the first part of the trilogy, with no updates about the second part. We may get updates after the film’s international release.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film Highlights Some of the Best Fights in the Series

The film picks up the story after the Demon Slayers ambushed Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor. The initial plan was to overwhelm the demon with the sudden onslaught of attacks and kill him as soon as possible. The Demon Slayers already cornered him, and Tamayo, the demon doctor, helped a great deal by injecting him with a poison to significantly weaken him. Unfortunately, the Biwa demon named Nakime summons all the Corps members into the Infinity Castle, where all the demons will have the edge against their enemies.

The Infinity Castle is an endless labyrinth, and it changes layout according to Nakime’s will. Not to mention that the Upper Moons are just waiting to slaughter any Demon Slayer that comes their way. The Corps members have a significant disadvantage, but they don’t plan on backing down in the middle of the fight, especially after the tragic sacrifice of their leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, his wife Amane, and their two daughters.

Fans already got a glimpse at some of the most exciting matchups in the first installment. Akaza, the Upper Moon Three, will be fighting Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka, while Shinobu Kocho will duel with Doma, the Upper Moon Two. Additionally, Zenitsu will go against another powerful demon, whose name and rank will be revealed in the film. While only these three fights have been confirmed in the anime so far, we also get a glimpse at almost every major character in the series. Infinity Castle is an action-driven arc, with several tear-jerking backstories thrown in between. This means that almost every character of the series will get their chance to shine in the final arc.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is currently being gradually released across the Eastern region, with screenings in the United States beginning on September 12th. With just under a month left until its U.S. debut, anticipation is high. However, with leaks surfacing online, fans are eager to see the movie as soon as possible to avoid spoilers, especially in Western regions, where it will be released last. Fortunately, an opportunity has arisen for U.S. fans to watch the movie ahead of its general release on September 12th.

Crunchyroll, in partnership with Fandango, announced today that there will be special screenings of the movie on September 9th at 7 PM (local time) in more than 250 theaters. This exclusive screening will only be available to subscribers of Crunchyroll’s Mega and Ultimate Fan plans. Tickets will be available through the Fandango Rewards platform starting tomorrow, August 15th, at 6 AM PT. Eligible subscribers will be able to purchase tickets after verifying their Crunchyroll subscription status and meeting the requirements. Fandango has also listed the participating theaters on its website.

Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan Subscribers to Get Early Access to Demon Slayer Movie

Due to the special screenings, seat availability for the movie will be limited, though it is still unclear how many seats can be purchased per valid Crunchyroll account. For such screenings, a minimum of three to four tickets is typically available, making it also a viable option for slightly larger groups. Each theater listed for the event will host only one screening on September 9th at 7 PM local time. Fans hoping to watch the movie ahead of its U.S. release on September 12th can do so only with a valid Crunchyroll subscription, making it a catch for those eager to see the film but without access to a subscription plan.

With Crunchyroll boasting a massive library of anime, this is also a great opportunity for fans to consider subscribing to the platform. Diehard Demon Slayer fans in the U.S. shouldn’t miss out on this event, as the theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been rewarding fans in the Eastern region with special items. Given that this is a special screening, there’s a strong chance U.S. fans might also receive exclusive gifts. However, those without a qualifying Crunchyroll subscription and who prefer not to spend extra, won’t have to wait long, as the general release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is just three days after the early screening.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle‘s first film was released on July 18th, 2025, in Japan, to impressive fanfare both among fans and in terms of sales. Even almost a month after its release, the film continues to break box office records. The global release dates vary in several countries, but fans in the U.S. will have to wait until September 12th, 2025. It’s only the first part of the Infinity Castle trilogy, and any further information on the second part has yet to be released. The film’s promotions are on the rise, covering almost the entire country, and the studio is coming up with new projects to keep up the hype of the series. One of these projects has taken over Awa, a city located in Tokushima Prefecture. Japan is celebrating its annual Obon festival this month, and the Awa Odori festival is one of the major attractions during this time.

The Obon festival attracts millions of visitors each year with its lively street dances, traditional music, and festive atmosphere. An Infinity Castle float will appear during the festival, and they have also installed a photo spot featuring several original illustrations of Tanjiro Kamado and the other characters. The announcement post by the official Demon Slayer handle on X also shares a new summer visual with Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko Kamado, highlighting the spirit of the festival. We also see several fan-favorite characters in the back, including all the Hashira, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira.

The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movies Turn Heads as the Anime Approaches the Finale

The Hashira Training Arc was only the calm before the storm. After the Swordsmith Village Arc, the Demon Slayers finally found the way to defeat the Upper Moons, but many Corps members were strong enough to reach that level. What follows after that is a brutal training program that puts the Demon Slayers through the wringer. The arc ends on a major cliffhanger after the tragic deaths of Kagaya Ubuyashi, his wife, and their two daughters. The Demon Slayers ambush Muzan Kibutsuji, and Tamayo injects a poison to weaken him.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Nakime, the Biwa demon, summons all the Corps Members to the Infinity Castle, where all the remaining demons and the Upper Moons await them. The initial plan was to get rid of Muzan as quickly as possible so the other demons would die with him. However, now the Demon Slayers will have to fight the overpowered Upper Moons before getting to Muzan again.

Unfortunately, the Infinity Castle is the demons’ domain, and the endless labyrinth is impossible to navigate, leaving the Demon Slayers vulnerable in front of their enemies. The film will be immensely intense and feature some of the best fight sequences in the series. The official trailer teased the match-up between Tanjiro and Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma, and Zenitsu preparing to fight a mysterious demon. Additionally, almost all the major characters in the series will get a chance to shine in the final arc of the series.

It may be hard to believe that August is here, which means autumn is just around the corner. While that may be disappointing for some, it does mean that new content is on the horizon. Better yet, there’s plenty of new shows for viewers to binge. August has been a big month for Netflix, starting with the return of one of its hit series. Additionally, Netflix has a plethora of older content it’ll be releasing throughout the month, including Quantum Leap and other beloved sci-fi series. The platform has always worked hard to obtain new content, and that is shining through this month, with series old and new worth diving into.

For many, August sparks the beginning of spooky season, making us crave shows and films that can send chills down our spines. Others are looking for something cozy and comforting. No matter what we’re craving, the odds are good that we’ll find the perfect show to binge-watch this August. Here are a few shows worth adding to your watch list.

1) Outlander

Historical fantasy fans have been loving Outlander, which is an adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s novel series. Now is the perfect time to binge-watch the first six seasons, as Netflix just released the first part of Season 7 on August 11th. Admittedly, even long-standing fans of the series can appreciate a good rewatch, as Outlander has undeniably become a comfort watch for many viewers.

Outlander combines a bit of time travel with adventure and romance, creating a unique mixture of elements and a remarkable story. It follows Claire Randall, a woman from the 20th century who accidentally finds herself hurled back in time to 18th-century Scotland. As romantic as that may sound, it comes with more than its fair share of complications. Outlander is an unforgettable series with an expansive cast. At the center are Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan.

2) Dept. Q

Image courtesy of Sony Pictures Television

Thriller fans should make note of a show named Dept. Q. It’s a newer Netflix series, having only been released on May 9, 2025. Despite this, it’s been steadily growing a dedicated fan base. The series is based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s book series, and it follows Carl Mørck (Matthew Goode), a detective returning to police work following a serious injury. Simultaneously, Mørck’s higher-ups decide to focus on solving a few cold cases, for office morale.

Enter Mørck’s new office, a basement office full of files. At his side are Akram Salim (Alexej Manvelov), DCI James Hardy (Jamie Sives), and DC Rose Dickson (Leah Byrne). Their first goal is to reopen a missing person’s case. There’s only one season of Dept. Q is available currently, but given its popularity, there’s reason to hope that Netflix will renew the series for more.

3) Great British Baking Show

The Great British Bake Off S5 Ep1
Noel, Prue and Paul with Rochica.

The Great British Baking Show, otherwise known as the Great British Bake Off, is a comfort show for many viewers. It pits some of the best amateur bakers against one another, with the hopes of becoming the next top baker. The series has been going on for years, and Season 16 is expected to be released sometime in September. In other words, now is the perfect time to get caught up or refreshed in this cozy competition.

The Great British Baking Show Season 16 is confirmed to be hosted by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, with our favorite judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, also returning to the scene. Be warned, a binge-watching session of The Great British Baking Show may inspire you to pick up baking, creating a messy kitchen, but plenty of confectionery delights. Or it may just make you hungry. If you’ve already binged the original series a hundred times, consider checking out the multitude of spinoffs available: Junior Bake Off, Bake Off: The Professionals, and The Great British Baking Show: Holidays.

4) The Hunting Wives

The Hunting Wives is another new Netflix series, having just hit the streaming service on July 21, 2025. The series is based on May Cobb’s novel of the same name, and it is all about drama and thrills. The story follows Sophie, a young woman who’s getting pulled into the social lives of those around her, as she desperately strives to fit in. Naturally, when things take a turn for the worse, it’s only Sophie left holding the bag, becoming suspect number one in a suspicious death.

Since the series is relatively new, now is the perfect time to give it a binge-watch. It’s perfect for fans of the original novel, but newer fans will likely appreciate the tense thrills this series has to offer (perhaps more so, since they won’t know how it ends). The Hunting Wives stars Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, Katie Lowes, George Ferrir, Chrissy Metz, and Dermot Mulroney.

5) Blue Eye Samurai

Netflix

Blue Eye Samurai is an animated series that took Netflix by storm, but there are still plenty of viewers who haven’t given this series a try. The first season was released in November 2023, and the second season is expected to be released sometime in 2026. So the wait is almost over, making it less intimidating for newer fans to give it a try. Blue Eye Samurai follows Mizu, a blue-eyed bushi with a quest for vengeance.

Mizu was raised to disguise herself as a boy, to keep herself a secret. As an adult, she continues this trend, but for a very different reason. With this disguise, Mizu has a better chance of getting revenge against those who wronged her family. Blue Eye Samurai stars the voices of Maya Erskine, George Takei, Masi Oka, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Brenda Song, and many others.

6) The Sinner

Image courtesy of Midnight Choir Inc.

Those looking for more of a police procedural anthology should make a point of checking out The Sinner. The series is based on Petra Hammesfahr’s novel of the same name. It follows Detective Harry Ambrose as he tackles different cases and mysteries. The first season revolves around Cora Tannetti, a troubled woman accused of murder, while the second season brings Ambrose back home to investigate a poisoning. Later seasons continue this trend, introducing a fatal car accident and a tragedy of a different sort.

In total, there are four seasons of The Sinner, all of which are available to stream on Netflix. The series stars Bill Pullman and Jessica Hecht, with different cast members joining in for each season. Since The Sinner is considered complete, there’s nothing stopping fans from binge-watching it from start to finish.

7) The Fall of the House of Usher

fall-of-the-house-of-usher-poster-header.jpg

The Fall of the House of Usher is the epitome of gothic horror. This miniseries was created by Mike Flanagan, though it is (loosely) based on Edgar Allan Poe’s works, particularly the short story of the same title. This series is not only perfect for Poe fans, but for T. Kingfisher fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the Sworn Soldier series.

Fall of the House of Usher is a nonlinear story following CEO Roderick Usher and his family. It all begins when he loses all six of his children within a matter of weeks, kicking off a mystery and a closer look at the corruption hiding just behind closed doors. Fall of the House of Usher stars Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Mary McDonnell, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, and many others.

8) Wednesday

Unsurprisingly, Wednesday has been the talk of the town on Netflix. The first part of Season 2 dropped on August 6th, and now the eager fans who already binged those four episodes are counting down to September 3rd. The story is a spinoff from the classic Addams Family characters, following Wednesday Addams (Jenny Ortega) and her trials at Nevermore Academy. Given this is Wednesday we’re talking about, it doesn’t take long for her to be neck-deep in a murder mystery (or two).

Wednesday has been a smash hit, perfectly capturing that creepy yet compelling storytelling style viewers are looking for. The first season admittedly opened the door to many memes, so don’t be surprised if season two repeats that. Stars include Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, and dozens more. Notably, Wednesday has already been renewed for Season 3, plus Netflix teased a spinoff.

9) Secrets We Keep

Secrets We Keep is a standalone limited series perfect for thriller fans. The story is set in Denmark, and it begins when an au pair goes missing. The neighbor, Cecilie, doesn’t believe everyone when they say Ruby went home. Neither does her own au pair, Angel. Since nobody else is taking this seriously, these two are determined to get to the bottom of things on their own. Luckily, they are perfectly positioned to watch their neighbor’s every move.

Secrets We Keep is a Danish thriller series, and while it is technically considered complete, they did leave room for a potential sequel. The series stars Marie Bach Hansen, Excel Busano, Sara Fanta Traore, Danica Curcic, and many others.

10) Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer Tanjiro Nezuko

Finally, there’s Demon Slayer, an anime that has been breaking records in theaters. The story predominantly focuses on Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager whose life is turned upside down after a demon attacks his family. He and his sister, Nezuko, are the only survivors, and Nezuko can no longer be strictly defined as being human. This sets the young man on a new journey, as he’s determined to hunt and kill the demon who destroyed his family, all while finding a cure for Nezuko.

There are currently four seasons of Demon Slayer available on Netflix, covering five main arcs (Unwavering Resolve, Mugen Train, Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training). The fifth season has been split into movies, though currently, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (movie) is only available in theaters in Japan. That will be changing soon, so now is the perfect time to get caught up on the series to prepare for the next wave of theatrical releases.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s creator has returned with some special new art to help highlight Black Clover‘s best couple in Asta and Noelle. Black Clover is now in the midst of celebrating the 10th anniversary of its original debut with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and with it has recruited some of Shonen Jump’s biggest creators and artists to help commemorate the occasion. This includes not only creators like One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda and Naruto‘s Masashi Kishimoto, but other notable hitters like My Hero Academia’s Kohei Horikoshi as well. Now the fun is continuing with even more tributes.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans have had a lot to celebrate this Summer as the newest feature film for the franchise has been taking over the box office since it launched in Japan, and now that’s been taken to a whole new level as series creator Koyoharu Gotoge has returned with some special new art to celebrate Black Clover. Deciding to do so with a fun new look at Asta and Noelle, you can check out the special promo art below to see this creator’s take on the duo.

Are Asta and Noelle a Couple in Black Clover?

Shueisha

While there are many fans who are hoping that Asta and Noelle develop a full romance by the time Black Clover comes to an end, it has unfortunately yet to come to pass. The duo has been going on adventures since the very beginning of the series, and it’s been revealed through the series’ tenure thus far that Noelle has developed feelings for Asta. It wasn’t until near the final arc that she started to realize she even had these feelings, so it’s finally starting to develop for the potential endgame of the series. It’s still going to be a long way to go, however.

Because while Noelle has realized she has feelings for Asta, it has yet to be revealed how he might feel about her. Asta has really only had one crush throughout the series, and leading to the final arc he was able to resolve this crush with a final confession (before being rejected of course). But other than that, fans haven’t really gotten to find out if he actually thinks of Noelle (or anyone else for that matter) in the same romantic kind of way. He’s been too busy fighting to grow stronger and save the Clover Kingdom.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Movie Come Out?

But while Black Clover fans are still curious about the future, Demon Slayer has kicked off the beginning of its own grand finale. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its debut in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and tickets for the film will go on sale beginning August 15th. The film will be kicking off a whole new trilogy of releases meant to adapt the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga, but the releases for the following two films have yet to be set at this time.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be showing off some major fights between Tanjiro and the other Hashira as they need to take on the final of Muzan Kibutsuji’s demonic forces, so it’s going to be a pretty big occasion as soon as it makes its international release. It’s already been taking over in Japan, so fans are eager to see what’s coming next.

Demon Slayer Tanjiro with Channing Tatum as Gambit

The English dub for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle will be receiving some serious star power with an Avengers cast member. It has been officially announced via press release that Hollywood star Channing Tatum will join the dub cast for the film as Keizo, a major character in the manga with a deep connection with the backstory of the film’s villain, Akaza. Tatum will be joined by Rebecca Wang, who will be voicing Keizo’s daughter Koyuki. These are fantastical gets for Crunchyroll, especially since Keizo and Koyuki play relatively minor, yet vital, roles in the first Infinity Castle film.

Tatum is a veteran actor with over twenty years in the industry, best known for his high-profile performances in the Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street films. He also played the iconic X-Men hero Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, becoming a scene-stealer in the movie. He has already been announced to reprise his role as Gambit for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. He and Wang join Demon Slayer alongside the reprising dub actors from the series, including Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott, Aleks Le, Bryce Papenbrook, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Erika Harlacher. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is scheduled to open in American theaters on September 12th.

Mitchel Berger, executive VP of global commerce for Crunchyroll, shared a comment about the English dub cast, revealing that Tatum joined because he’s a fan of the anime series. Tatum reportedly watched the anime with his daughter, which is a heartwarming and sweet anecdote shared by Berger. While some fans may question how an anime series like Demon Slayer could afford Tatum, it should be noted that Crunchyroll is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, which has connections with various Hollywood agencies and studios. Demon Slayer is also one of the biggest Japanese anime currently airing, with the box office totals for Infinity Castle in Japan already breaking several records. Given Tatum’s supposed affinity for the property, it was likely a relatively easy negotiation between Crunchyroll and Tatum’s representatives.

Several major dub productions have featured celebrity voice work, most notably within the Studio Ghibli dubs. Famous English-speaking actors like Christian Bale, Kirsten Dunst, Dakota Fanning, Robert Pattinson, and Michael Keaton have lent their voices to Ghibli animated features. Samuel Jackson also infamously provided voice work for the Afro Samurai anime series on Adult Swim.

The first part of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th and broke several box office records in the country. The film is set to release in the U.S. on September 12th, and the promotions are in full swing. Muchiro Tokito, one of the most beloved characters in the series, will also play a crucial role in the final arc. Although he was introduced in the first season, he got the attention he deserved in anime’s Season 3, which adapted the Swordsmith Village Arc of the manga. Everything from Muichiro’s backstory and his groundbreaking power-up highlighted how important the Corps’ youngest Hashira is.

8th August is Muichiro’s birthday, and the official website of the anime shared an adorable birthday card with the character’s new look. It’s an illustration of mini Muichiro, who is dressed in a white outfit, holding a bouquet of flowers in front of a floral arch. The colors are white and the same shade of teal as his hair. Additionally, the official X handle of Ufotable, Demon Slayer’s animation studio, also promoted a special birthday for the character, including a diorama acrylic stand of the visual, a rosette, and four matching items of the new theme.

Muichiro Tokito Is an Extraordinary Demon Slayer

In the Swordsmith Village Arc, Muichiro achieved a feat that none of the characters were capable of at the time. After awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, he single-handedly defeated Gyokko, the Upper Moon Five, and made it seem effortless. The Upper Moons’ powers surpass those of any human, so much so that none of the Corps members were able to kill one before Tengen Uzui, Tanjiro Kamado, and the others made history in the Entertainment District Arc. However, it took one Hashira, three mid-rank Demon Slayers, and a demon (Nezuko Kamado) to take down Gyutaro and Daki, the siblings who shared their power.

Although the Demon Slayer Mark played a significant role in Muichiro’s victory, it would all have been useless if he weren’t talented in the first place. The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trailer only showed a brief glimpse of the character as he runs around in the endless labyrinth. So far, the trailer has only shown the match-up between Tanjiro and Giyu Tomioka against Akaza, Shinobu Kocho vs. Doma, and Zenitsu facing a mysterious enemy.

Although Muichiro will also fight a powerful foe, it won’t happen until the later parts of the Infinity Castle Arc. Although the Infinity Castle also has low-ranking demons, all of the fights center around the Upper Moons, the strongest demons of all. We may get to see his full fight in the second part of the trilogy film, although it will take a while to be released. The final arc of the series focuses on the majority of the characters, with multiple POV shifts, highlighting the intensity of the final showdown against the demons.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has some huge things going down in its new Infinity Castle movie, and a new trailer for the film is hyping fans about the anime’s best tag team yet. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is now working its way through theaters and doing better than ever before with just its first few weeks in Japan, and fans in the rest of the world have been anxious to see the new movie for themselves. As the film gets closer to its international launch, even more is starting to show from the film in the weeks since its Japanese debut.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has dropped a new trailer hyping up the film’s box office run in Japan, and with it has showcased a major tag team between Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka. After crossing paths in the first season of the anime and teasing a major connection between the two through the anime’s run thus far, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has this huge tag team battle on the way as Tanjiro and Giyu take on Akaza in a massive rematch. Check out the new trailer below.

Demon Slayer Hypes Tanjiro and Giyu Team Up

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle adapts the first phase of the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and that means Tanjiro and the others will be facing off against the surviving demons under Muzan Kibutsuji’s control. The promotional materials released thus far have been teasing fans about many of the major fights that each of the characters will be taking on in the new movie, but this is the best look at this tag team between Tanjiro and Giyu yet as it’s clear they’re throwing everything they have at Akaza.

“So, I know I can’t tell you what’s going to happen in the movie, but perhaps this visual gave us a few hints,” Tanjiro Kamado voice star Natsuki Hanae teased when Tanjiro and Giyu’s tag team was revealed with a new poster during San Diego Comic-Con 2025 earlier this Summer. “You know, maybe Tanjiro is going to go up against Akaza. I know in Mugen Train, Tanjiro couldn’t do anything, so it’s going to be a spectacle to see how much Tanjiro has grown since the last film.” So we’ll be seeing much stronger versions of this duo in action too.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Come Out in the U.S.?

ufotable

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its debut in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and tickets for the film will go on sale beginning August 15th. It will be screening in both Japanese and English dubbed audio, and will also be available in premium and IMAX formats. Although the film has already been released in Japan, Demon Slayer has yet to reveal its release date or windows for the follow up films in the Infinity Castle trilogy as of this time.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is a full trilogy of films taking on the arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga, but the full scope of this trilogy is still unclear. There’s a chance that this trilogy will be how the anime franchise decides to come to an end, but there’s still one final arc that might or might not be tackled when this trilogy is all said and done.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy’s first installment, currently screening in Japanese theaters, is set to launch worldwide starting next week. The movie will roll out in the Eastern regions first, beginning in mid-August, before reaching the Western regions by September 12th. Promotion campaigns for the film have been highly active, releasing new content almost daily. In the latest push, a new commercial trailer has been unveiled, offering a glimpse of the intense action the movie has in store. As suggested by its title in Japan, Chapter 1: Akaza Returns, and confirmed by earlier trailers, Tanjiro will face the formidable Upper Moon Three demon, Akaza.

However, it was always clear that, despite the power boost Tanjiro gained in the recent Hashira Training Arc, he wouldn’t be able to take on Akaza alone. The new trailer finally confirms Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, as Tanjiro’s partner in this battle. From the teaser, it’s evident that Giyu will be leading the charge, giving his all in a fight that will determine the fate of humanity. His confirmation as the lead in the first film’s climactic battle is a thrilling reveal for fans, as it marks the first time the Water Hashira, introduced at the very start of the series, will be showcased in a full-scale, high-stakes fight.

Giyu Tomioka Will Lead the Main Event of the New Demon Slayer Movie

Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, was introduced in the very first episode of the Demon Slayer anime, embodying the strength and resolve of the Demon Slayer Corps. The later revelation of his status as a Hashira only deepened fans’ curiosity about his skill. Until now, they have mostly seen glimpses of his prowess, such as when he single-handedly defeated Lower Moon Six using the 11th form of Water Breathing, a technique he created himself, proving that he is a genius as well. The recent Hashira Training Arc also offered a brief look into his backstory, further cementing his place as a fan favorite.

This makes the latest trailer for the new movie all the more exciting, as it confirms Giyu leading the charge against Akaza, perhaps the third most powerful demon alive. The footage shows Giyu engaging Akaza directly, creating openings for Tanjiro to strike. Given Giyu and Tanjiro’s master–student dynamic, the fight promises to be even more engaging. The stakes are heightened by Akaza’s history as the demon who killed another beloved Hashira, Rengoku. Seeing Giyu face him in the first Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film will be thrilling, and with the danger so high, the battle could even end with Giyu’s death.

The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film is all set for its international release on September 12th, 2025. However, there’s also a special All Night Nippon GOLD radio show planned for the same day at 10:00 PM JST. The voice actors of Tanjiro Kamado (Hanae Natsuki) and Zenitsu Agatsuma (Shimono Hiro) will serve as the program’s hosts. Additionally, the voice behind Giyu Tomioka (Sakurai Takahiro) and Shinobu Kocho (Saori Hayami) will appear as guests. The hosts will talk about the first part of the trilogy film, and listeners will also be asked to submit emails. There are several segments planned for the show, although it will take place in Japan.

Demon Slayer’s latest film made its domestic premiere on July 18th, 2025, and broke several box office records in the country. Since the film is still showing in the theaters, promotions are in full swing with the beloved cast taking the center stage. Most of them have been pretty active since before the release, appearing in events and giving exclusive interviews to talk about their experience working on the series. Demon Slayer’s final arc will be adapted into a film trilogy, and only the first part has been released so far. We may learn something about the second part after the latest film’s international release. Although the release dates may vary in certain countries, fans in the U.S. will get to experience the stunning film on September 12th, 2025.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film Features the Final Fights Against the Villains

Initially, the Demon Slayers were planning to ambush Muzan Kibutsuji and get rid of him without giving him a chance to counterattack. Killing Muzan would also mean that all the demons (with the exception of Yushiro) would die at once. However, their plan goes awry when Nakime, the demon who created the Infinity Castle, pulls the Corps members into the endless labyrinth. The Infinity Castle is almost impossible to navigate, and it’s where the Upper Moons are waiting to strike down their enemies. The Demon Slayers are at a clear disadvantage in the enemies’ stronghold, but they don’t plan on giving up on taking the demons down.

While the Demon Slayers previously defeated the Upper Moons Four to Six, the top three are on a whole other level. We already got a glimpse of Akaza, the Upper Rank Three’s power, and he’s going to be more overwhelming in the Infinity Castle Arc. Akaza will face off against Tanjiro, who has a grudge to settle with him after Kyojuro Rengoku’s death. Giyu will also join the fight and lend Tanjiro a helping hand.

According to the trailer, we will also witness the horrifying powers of Doma, the Upper Rank Two, during his fight against Shinobu, the Insect Hashira. Not only that, but we will also find out the reason behind Zenitsu’s menacing look and the mysterious opponent he is facing. The rest of the Hashira will get their spotlight in the film as an all-out war against humans and demons continues for an entire night.

Jun Harukawa’s Kaedegami is middling so far, but I’m not going to put it down. Since its June 2025 standout debut in Weekly Shonen Jump, Kaedegami has racked up seven chapters; as of the time of writing, it’s the 15th hottest series on MangaPlus, trailing behind other newer series like Ichi the Witch, Centurion, and Drama Queen. On the other hand, In the WSJ table of contents, it’s been averaging higher than other newer serializations like Ping-Pong Peril! and Ekkiden Bros, per Jajanken, a common indicator of a manga’s popularity the higher it places.

When you read between the lines, what that actually means is that it’s doing fine: a noteworthy accomplishment at an outlet where the upper echelon are as picky as its readers. That’s the big twist here, with no sensationalism or ragebait: Kaedegami is only alright. But I consider my time and energy pretty valuable, so that usually wouldn’t cut it. Here’s why I’m going to keep paying attention to Kaedegami.

Kaedegami Feels Made for Success

courtesy of Shueisha

Kaedegami so far feels like a beat-for-beat mash-up of Demon Slayer and Dororo. You have a historical setting and a core bond between two main characters built around a similar restorative quest. That’s fine; they’re tried, they’re tested, they’re massive successes. At a fundamental level, Kaedegami is executed well: its art is gorgeous, its writing is tight, and its villains have been fun to read, which is really what matters. Fans have also lauded its clear-cut premise and solid hook, and its first chapter is a standout debut among recent manga.

Kaedegami’s world is filled with demons called Shenguai, and its protagonist, Kou, is an orphan raised by the Shenguai god of war, Chiyou. Here’s where the “tragic past” in MangaPlus’s summary apparently comes into play. In the first battle, Kou was taunted by an enemy Shenguai who told him that Chiyou was only raising him to possess his body. It’s revealed that Chiyou’s whole body was stripped away from her, and she typically grooms humans to use as vessels.

Kou says he doesn’t care out of devotion to Chiyou, while Chiyou affirms her own unique love for Kou. Instead of a permanent possession, they enter into a special contract where Chiyou can possess Kou at will, with the side effect that their mortality is tied; Kou’s death means Chiyou would die too. After beating up the first big baddie (regaining Chiyou’s face along the way), Kou and Chiyou embark on an adventure to recover the rest of her body, slashing up Shenguai and enjoying the scenery along the way.

Kaedegami Still Isn’t Perfect

courtesy of shueisha

Kaedegami’s similarity to Dororo and Demon Slayer is obvious and heavy-handed. That’s as much a bad thing as a good one. Both are examples of anime adaptations that majorly outclass their manga. Kaedegami, if it ever gets an anime, might just see its manga outclassed too. Whatever, though: live and let live. As far as I’m concerned, Kaedegami doesn’t have to be a chart-topping, genre-defining story to be worth reading; it’s enough for it to be fun.

Its future isn’t guaranteed, though. Kaedegami is doing fine, but it’s still hovering uncomfortably close to the danger zone, and its latest chapter saw a dip in its ToC position. To that end, Kaedegami has two main problems that really stick out to me.

The first is its pacing. For example, if you compare Demon Slayer or Dororo to Kaedegami, one thing they both have going is that their central relationships have way more meat to them (Tanjiro/Nezuko and Dororo/Hyakkimaru, respectively). Although it’s still early in the series, Chiyou and Kou’s relationship feels much thinner, and despite Kou’s simple charisma, he’s especially thin as a protagonist. Yes, Chiyou took him in, and yes, Kou feels lovingly indebted to her. But it’s not immediately relatable like the sibling bond in Demon Slayer, nor is it given an obvious sociopolitical context like in Dororo. Their relationship needs more time and context, and Kaedegami’s Mach 5 pacing struggles to provide that.

The second is its fights. Harukawa’s intuition in drawing combat is underwhelming. The latest chapters have let us see a full-on fight for the first time, and it’s not great: the paneling, flow, and general comprehensibility are severely lacking. What actually happens in its fights is interesting, and the lead duo’s covenant dynamics are likewise fun to watch unfold. However, that just makes its confusing battles all the more disappointing.

The Big Reason I’m Still Sticking With Kaedegami

Courtesy of shueisha

If Kaedegami were to be cancelled, I would suspect it to be out of a combination of the whiplash of its bad pacing, consequently troubled storytelling, and confusing battles. While doing my homework ahead of this article, I found that other people following the manga feel the same about those aspects. But I actually think it’s more likely it’ll squeak by and eventually get an anime. And weirdly, that’s almost a concerning thought for me.

Consider the following: Kaedegami injects its leading lady with Demon Slayer’s bold brand of sex appeal; even though its fights are messy, they’re also clearly designed to look incredible in motion; not to mention, its environmental design and detailing are gorgeous, and a wise, careful adaptation will only accent that. That is to say, Kaedegami has sensuality, cathartic action, and settings that pop off the page: the three most effective foundations for eye-candy. It’s cinematic to its core.

Here’s the catch. Maybe it’s the stylistic and narrative proximity to Demon Slayer, but I won’t lie, Kaedegami invented a new worry for me: anxiety over the possibility that Demon Slayer’s superstardom, built on the back of Ufotable’s jaw-dropping adaptation, has set a standard where manga rely on a future anime adaptation to visually stun fans into forgetting weak writing. In other words, style over substance as a viable manga storytelling ethos. Demon Slayer, like Kaedegami, was enjoyable enough to read, but it never did much to stand out as a manga. That’s partly why its blockbuster adaptation was such a surprise, back in the day.

But the thing is, I want that not to be true for Kaedegami. None of Kaedegami‘s major issues are particularly damning: fight choreography can improve if Harukawa listens to fan feedback and reflects on it. Meanwhile, as a Naruto die-hard, I’ll be the first to say that troubled storytelling is easily forgiven, although the most recent chapters have even shown that tightening up. I think Kaedegami has a really great foundation and endless runway to grow into its own identity as a story and weave a more compelling tale. I’m excited to see where it could go.

It’s charming enough that I’m willing to give it all the time in the world to get there. At the end of the day, Kaedegami is already unarguably a lot of fun to read; it doesn’t have to be a top-three Jump title to be worth your time. On one hand, although I struggle to connect with its story, I’ll keep reading because I want to. It appears as though the only competition to Demon Slayer on the silver screen is itself, as Mugen Train’s previous record as the biggest anime film of all time might finally be defeated thanks to Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. Already pulling in serious numbers in Japanese theaters, Western anime fans will need to wait until next month to see the Demon Slayer Corps return. Luckily, the white hot anime movie has released new high-definition footage for one of the biggest battles of the movie, with Tanjiro joining forces with Giyu Tomioka to take on Akaza, Rengoku’s killer.

As a refresher for the previous battles of the Demon Slayer franchise, Mugen Train didn’t pull any punches when it came to one of the Hashira’s greatest losses. While Tanjiro and his fellow swordsmen managed to take down the creepy demon known as Enmu, a far stronger demon was waiting in the wings. Akaza, one of Muzan’s strongest lieutenants, fought against the Flame Hashira Rengoku and took his life in the process. With Tanjiro swearing revenge, it appears as though Infinity Castle is set to see the protagonist finally attempt to extract his revenge for the loss of his fellow swordsman.

The State of Demon Slayer

In terms of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the movie is set to arrive on September 12th next month in North America, finally giving Western audiences the chance to see the first part of the finale trilogy. As of the writing of this article, anime enthusiasts still don’t know the release dates for the next two movies that will bring the fight against Muzan to a close. Hopefully, fans won’t be waiting long to see how the Demon Slayer Corps’ story ends, as the first film is sure to leave fans on the edge of their seats.

As for the series overall, the original manga concluded in 2020 thanks to creator Koyoharu Gotouge forging a worthy finale for her characters. At present, there have been no signs that Gotouge has any plans to return to this universe, though many shonen fans might welcome a sequel and/or spin-off series that would bring back some of their favorite swordsmen.

Demon Slayer’s reign as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump proved how even a new story can quickly overtake classic stories if it has some serious groundswell backing it up. Tanjiro’s tale managed to defeat the Straw Hat Pirates of One Piece in sales several times in the past, which is no easy feat considering how big Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece has become. With major series like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen already releasing their final chapters, it will be interesting to see what other manga series rise to the top in this newly forged power vacuum.

Demon Slayer Mitsuri

One of Demon Slayer’s greatest strengths is the backstories, a common shonen anime trope understood well by its creator, Koyoharu Gotouge. This creates a result that not only adds character depth but also infuses the story with emotional weight. The story is set in a world where powerful demons lurk in the shadows and consume humans to gain more power. The demons can’t be killed by ordinary means, and even crushing their heads won’t result in their deaths. Apart from instant regeneration, they possess superhuman strength, and some can even use unique abilities called the Blood Demon Art. Because of their constant desire for power, far too many people have lost their lives, and their families have suffered as a result of those tragedies.

Whether it’s the demons or their slayers, a majority of characters have suffered greatly in the series, and their backstories are often too heartwrenching. This is why, compared to the other backstories, the one centered around Mitsuri Kanroji is often overlooked. Her past doesn’t include tragedies caused by a demon, and even the reason she joined the Corps is much different from the others. Even so, the backstory delivers just the right amount of emotional depth to one of the series’ best characters.

Mitsuri Kanroji’s Backstory Highlights Themes of Self-Love and Acceptance

Demon Slayer Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri grew up in a loving family and wasn’t like any typical girl you’d see. She was physically stronger since childhood and had a hearty appetite. Her hair color changed after eating too much sakuramochi, an absurd explanation not grounded in reality, but Gotouge ran with it to explain her unique appearance; suspension of disbelief definitely helps. More realistic, however, is that the story is set in early 1900s Japan, where social norms for girls were much different from what it is now. She wanted to meet societal expectations and find love, but she would always get rejected for being “different.”

Obanai handing handkerchief to Mitsuri
Ufotable

In order to be accepted by those around her, she thought she would have to find a suitable match. But to do that, she had to strip herself of her individuality, which was burdening her. Mitsuri initially tried to change herself to fit the social standards, but she eventually realized that nothing she could do would make them see her true self. She embraced her real identity and strived for happiness in her own way. She eventually left her home and joined the Demon Slayer Corps, a job known for a high death rate. Even in such circumstances, she climbed to the ranks of a Hashira and found someone she deeply loved. A backstory doesn’t need to be tragic to be considered good.

Likewise, a character doesn’t need to suffer or lose their loved ones in order to be considered well-written. Mitsuri’s story is more relatable compared to the rest, and it contrasts with a different kind of struggle than we had seen so far. Her story feels out of place in a broken and twisted world of Demon Slayer, again resonating with her character. She highlights a different kind of strength than the others, while being more emotional and compassionate than most people.

Swordsmith village giving Tanjiro farewell

The success of Demon Slayer‘s latest movie has been nothing short of groundbreaking, and the movie is looking to shatter records much like the Mugen Train film did a few years ago. While it is a given that the movie is doing incredibly well at the box office, racking up millions of dollars and receiving a lot of buzz, it also has a knock-on effect on the sales of the manga that ended years ago, with the sales skyrocketing and appearing in charts yet again after the film premiered.

The figure for the most sold manga of July 2025 has been revealed, and while there is no surprise that One Piece‘s latest volume came in at the first spot, with 1.1 million copies sold, it is very surprising that Kimetsu No Yaiba – Demon Slayer has appeared in the charts 5 years after the manga ended, selling over 280K copies and coming at number 6, beating out series like Blue Lock and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Furthermore, from July 28th to August 3rd, it was the second most-sold manga, selling 112K and coming in under My Dress-Up Darling. There is only one logical explanation as to why the manga came back to the charts dominating, and this shows just how well the movie was received.

Demon Slayer Returns to Dominate Rankings Once Again

Picking up where the previous season left off, the first part of the trilogy sees Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps trapped in the Infinity Castle, which is Muzan’s stronghold. With everyone separated, the film primarily focuses on the battle between Akaza against the duo of Tanjiro and Giyu, with other exciting fights such as Shinobu and Doma, and Zenitsu and Kaigaku. With some of the most stunning animation the franchise has seen, Part 1: Akaza Returns was an incredible way to kick off the trilogy that promises to shift the landscape of the anime world with each release.

This is not the first time the manga has received such an incredible boost from the anime. The first season as well as the following Mugen Train film allowed the movie to have the record of the most-sold manga in a single year, racking up 80 million copies, which is an insane achievement and most likely will not happen again. The manga was recently confirmed to have 220 million copies in circulation around the world and is the 7th best-selling manga in the world after Naruto’s 250 million. The anime definitely plays a large part in the popularity, but the wide appeal of the exorcist and action genre, as well as the likeable characters and simpler plot, makes it a very easy sell and something that can be enjoyed by many.

Demon Slayer was not the only manga on the list to receive a boost from an anime adaptation. Medalist‘s sales increased by 4 times after season 1, Dandadan‘s sales are still going strong, The Summer Hikaru Died, Tougen Anki, and The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity saw major sales after their newfound popularity on Netflix. The power of a good anime adaptation cannot be overstated, and every season proves this when a manga takes off.

Demon Slayer Villains

Although the Demon Slayer manga reached its conclusion in 2020, the series’ popularity keeps rising thanks to the anime adaptation. The anime is adapting the final arc in a trilogy film, and the first part has already been released in Japan. It features the epic showdown between Demon Slayers and the Upper Moons with the future of the country at stake. For centuries, demons have terrorized innocent people, and countless lives have been lost. Demons are naturally physically stronger than most humans, and certain criteria must be met to kill them. This is why ordinary humans don’t stand a chance against them.

Demons don’t blindly attack humans; they do so to gain more power. Along with regeneration, exceptional speed, and raw strength, some demons can even learn to use special abilities called Blood Demon Art, which makes them even more invincible. Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor, shares some of his blood with a select few demons who have a cut above the rest of the demons. In the fight against these monsters, humans have always been at a significant disadvantage. And yet, they continue to fight in an attempt to eradicate their terror for a better future.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

10) Enmu

Demon Slayer most powerful villains Enmu

Although Akaza stole all of the limelight in the Infinity Train film, the true main antagonist of the arc was Enmu, and he shouldn’t be underestimated. Despite being a Lower Moon One, he survived Muzan’s brutal slaughter of the lower ranks thanks to his intellect. His Blood Demon Art is one of the most troublesome abilities in the series. He can put his opponents to sleep and manipulate their dreams in order to break them completely before killing them. This is how he controlled the passengers in the train, killing them one by one.

While fighting with Tanjiro, Enmu decided to show him his happiest memories with his family. By doing so, he figured that Tanjiro wouldn’t want to wake up from his dream, but the truth couldn’t be farther apart from it. With Nezuko’s help, Tanjiro strengthened his resolve and severed his own head in his dream countless times before finally having the chance to kill Enmu.

9) Kaigaku

Demon Slayer Zenitsu Kaigaku

Kaigaku will be formally introduced in the Infinity Castle film as Zenitsu’s biggest opponent. He briefly appeared in Zenitsu’s flashback during the first season, mocking the young Demon Slayer for being unable to learn all of the Thunder Breathing forms. However, Kaigaku’s past is far more elaborate and shameful than that. He gave up his humanity in order to survive and replaced Gyutaro as the Upper Moon Six. He is Zenitsu’s biggest opponent in the entire series, and the former has more than enough reasons to decapitate the demon.

Since most Blood Demon Arts stem from the demon’s past life, Kaigaku, who trained under the former Thunder Hashira, was still able to use Thunder Breathing. In fact, he further upgraded the Total Concentration by manifesting the thunder into reality. While Zenitsu could only use the first and the most difficult form of the Breathing Technique, Kaigaku was able to use all of them except the first.

8) Gyutaro and Daki

Demon Slayer most powerful villains Gyutaro and Daki

Although Gyutaro was the Upper Moon Six and the main antagonist of the Entertainment District Arc, his powers were intertwined with his sister, Daki. While Daki was the one who would stay in the open as the Upper Moon, Gyutaro would only show up when she was in a pinch. The siblings were immensely strong, and what made them truly terrifying was the fact that they couldn’t die unless both their heads were severed at the same time.

While Tanjiro Kamado and Tengen Uzui directly fought Gyutaro, the task of defeating Daki fell upon Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko. Tengen’s wives also helped with the ordeal, and that’s how the team made history by defeating the first Upper Moon in over a hundred years.

7) Gyokko

Demon Slayer Gyokko

In terms of presence and character writing, Gyokko falls behind a majority of the villains in the series. Even so, his strength can’t be underestimated considering his rank as Upper Moon Five. Gyokko and Hantengu invaded the Swordsmith Village together and decided to kill the Demon Slayers who were taking shelter there. Although the village is always hidden and keeps moving around to avoid the demons’ attack, Gyokko still managed to achieve a feat no one else could.

His Blood Demon Art revolves around sea and aquatic lifeforms, making him just as slippery as one. He would’ve been able to kill Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, had it not been for his unexpected manifestation of the Demon Slayer Mark. Just when Mucihiro was forced into a corner, he awakened his lost memories as well as his true powers.

6) Nakime

Demon Slayer most powerful villains Nakime

Despite not specializing in combat, Nakime was promoted to Upper Rank Four after Hantengu’s death. While Muzan gave the sixth rank to Kaigaku, he left the fifth rank empty and made her the fourth. This proves how much she valued her skills, and that’s because her Blood Demon Art is the Infinity Castle itself. She can control everything within the castle, change its layout, and teleport people in and out of the castle at will. This just proves how much of a disadvantage the Demon Slayers were in after being forced inside the labyrinth.

While everyone else was busy fighting the other Upper Moons, Mitsuri and Obanai joined hands against the newly appointed Upper Rank Four. They also received help from Yushiro, who did everything he could to fulfill Tamayo’s wish. Regardless of how powerful an Upper Rank is, going against two Hashira should be overwhelming for anyone, but Nakime easily avoided their attacks. She didn’t even have to leave her seat in order to deal with them. Had it not been for Yushiro, who took control of her powers and forced Muzan to kill her, the Corps may have been wiped out.

5) Hantengu

Demon Slayer Hantengu

Hantengu’s troublesome ability made him a force to be reckoned with. He could create several clones of himself, each depicting a certain emotion. Each clone is already difficult to deal with, but if someone does manage to sever their heads, they would just split up into even more powerful forms. Initially, he had four clones, but eventually, he revealed seven forms in total. Not only that, but his most powerful clone, Zohakuten, was created when the initial clone, Sekido, absorbed the other three clones: Karaku, Aizetsu, and Urogi.

Defeating the clone was pointless, since the demon wouldn’t die as long as his main body hadn’t been severed. But here’s another trick: Hantengu’s real body is extremely tiny, which makes it easy for him to hide in places no one could find him. Despite his tiny appearance, his head still couldn’t be severed easily.

4) Akaza

Demon Slayer most powerful villains Akaza

Akaza, the Upper Rank Three, specialized in hand-to-hand combat and enjoyed nothing more than fighting powerful people. He truly enjoyed the thrill of the battle, and even his Blood Demon Art revolved around martial arts. According to Doma, Akaza had the talent to even surpass the Upper Rank Two, but the only thing that kept him from getting stronger was his refusal to eat women, who provided more power to demons compared to men.

Despite that, he was able to win against Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, in the Infinity Train Arc. Akaza sprang into action again during the Infinity Castle Arc and came face-to-face with Tanjiro. Giyu also joined the fight and lent Tanjiro a helping hand, but the two were still overwhelmed by Akaza’s power. By the end of the fight, all three of them had reached their limits, but Akaza had another trick up his sleeve. He could’ve destroyed Tanjiro and Giyu then and there, but something during the fight triggered his memories as a human. He remembered his beloved fiancée, who asked him to stop, and his attack backfired, making him self-destruct.

3) Doma

Demon Slayer Doma

Doma has long been introduced in the anime, but we will finally see his true powers in the Infinity Castle Arc. As the Upper Rank Two, he couldn’t be defeated by simple means. Having lost her sister because of Doma, Shinobu knew that fact better than anyone else. His Blood Demon Art was as cold as his heart, allowing him to conjure and manipulate ice at an unprecedented level.

Shinobu lived for the purpose of killing him and consumed poison lethal to demons for over a year. She faced the monster alone and made him consume her, as she had wished. Shinobu bet her revenge on her adoptive sister, Kanao, who had a unique ability. Later, Inosuke joined the fight, and their teamwork successfully killed one of the most powerful demons in history.

2) Kokushibo

Demon Slayer most powerful villains Kokushibo

If Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the greatest Demon Slayer in history, is portrayed as the sun, then his older twin brother, Michikatsu Tsugikuni, who lived in the shadow of his younger brother, could be considered the moon. Michikatsu abandoned his humanity and his true name after becoming a demon known as Kokushibo. He eventually joined the ranks of the Twelve Kizuki and became the Upper Moon One. Kokushibo has more than enough to back up his rank, which would explain how he has survived for about 500 years.

As a former Demon Slayer, he could use Moon Breathing even after turning into the monster he once fought against. Apart from his unparalleled strength, he was an exceptional swordsman, and it took the combined efforts of Sanemi Shinazugawa, Genya Shinazugawa, Muichiro, and Gyomei Himejima to finally defeat the demon.

1) Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan Demon Slayer

With seven hearts, five brains, unparalleled strength, and a varying range of supernatural abilities, Muzan was an untouchable force. Except for the sun, he had no weakness to speak of at all. After Yoriichi, there was no human born with nearly as enough strength to defeat the demon. Severing Muzan’s head won’t kill him, so the only option is to expose him to the sun. However, that’s a lot easier said than done. After Kagaya Ubuyashiki blew up his manor, Tamayo injected a poison into Muzan’s body that would significantly weaken him.

However, the demon stood tall despite that and almost took down the entire Demon Slayer Corps. The night-long battle crushed many lives and dreams, but eventually the Demon Slayers’ sacrifice wasn’t all for nothing. Even after his body was disintegrated after being exposed to sunlight, he planned to take over Tanjiro’s body until the Demon Slayers saved their comrade.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy’s first anime movie is currently being screened in Japanese theaters and is also seeing releases across other Eastern regions. The movie continues to break records, becoming the fastest in Japan to reach such high admissions. Reports from other Eastern regions reveal that fans are waiting hours in line to get tickets. While there is immense hype surrounding the new film, fans in Western regions will still have to wait more than a month for its release. Meanwhile, promotion for the movie remains highly active, with special treats being released for fans of the franchise, further fueling excitement for this installment.

One part of the promotional campaign began on July 19th, a day after the movie’s release in Japanese theaters. This promotion includes new illustrations of several characters, both individually and together, with one new illustration being released by the official Ufotable channel on X (formerly Twitter) since its launch. While all of these new illustrations have been a visual treat, the one released on August 5th, featuring fan-favorite couple Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro, has especially stood out, prompting fans to express their love for the couple in the comments.

New Promo Art of Mitsuri and Obanai Shows Them Just as Fans Wish to See Them in the Anime

The illustration shared by Ufotable on X depicts Mitsuri and Obanai side by side, reading letters, accompanied by subtle floral effects that make it evident they are exchanging love letters. Although they appear together in the illustration, the shared connection through the letter suggests they are separated, conveying their feelings from different places. Given how the anime has previously depicted such heartfelt moments, it’s clear that this illustration is inspired by those scenes, capturing a treasured moment between two formidable warriors who rarely get time for themselves due to the constant threat of demons.

As one of the most prominent couples in the franchise, it’s no surprise that fans continue to comment on their relationship, with this post in particular receiving a deeply heartfelt response. The Japanese media outlet Oricon specifically highlighted this post, noting how Japanese fans are especially enamored by it. Fans also expressed their desire for the illustration to be distributed physically, indicating they want a tangible copy of this special artwork. It’s no surprise that this piece has received such an impressive reception, as Obanai and Mitsuri represent the romantic element that the series often leaves in the background.

While Demon Slayer is known for its strikingly beautiful action sequences, moments like this are cherished. Although this illustration has captured fans’ hearts, the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie is confirmed to feature the two fighting together against a horde of demons. Fans can eagerly anticipate seeing them in action, though with the high stakes involved, casualties are likely, and Demon Slayer has not hesitated to kill off beloved characters, as was the case with the fan-favorite Hashira, Rengoku. Thus, Mitsuri and Obanai’s appearance together in the movie could also be their last.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, the first part of a planned trilogy, continues to dominate at the Japanese box office. The motion picture had already sold over 9 million tickets in its first ten days at the cinemas, earning over 12 billion yen. It’s the fastest film to gross over ten billion yen at the Japanese box office, surpassing the previous record holder, the other Demon Slayer movie, Mugen Train. Infinity Castle has since grossed over 17 billion yen worldwide, equivalent to approximately $120 million in USD. The film is a runaway success in Japan, already becoming the highest-grossing film of 2025, and may surpass Mugen Train as the highest-grossing film in the country’s history.

To commemorate Infinity Castle‘s success and thank the fans, the studio behind the Demon Slayer animation, Ufotable, has been distributing free merchandise to theater attendees. On August 2nd, theaters began handing out new A5-sized art stands based on one of the posters. The art stand is limited to only 3 million people nationwide, making it a first-come, first-served situation. On August 4th, Ufotable announced a new collector’s item that fans can gain by attending a screening of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns.

New Clear Cards Gifts Will be Handed Out to Demon Slayer Fans

Japanese cinema chains will begin handing out a second round of free clear cards based on the main characters of the Demon Slayer franchise. The first round of clear cards featured character posters and were handed out to theater goers when the film launched on July 18th. There are six cards in total, each one featuring a duo or group of the Demon Slayer Corps. Similarly to previous giveaways, the new set of clear cards will be limited to only 4 million people nationwide and will be first-come, first-served. Attendees will be limited to one card per person, and the cards will be distributed randomly. People won’t be able to choose which design they want.

The cards will begin being handed out to people from Saturday, August 9th, to Friday, August 22nd. At the time of this writing, the clear cards are exclusive to Japan. However, overseas screenings will occasionally receive some of the Japanese merchandise to give away to fans. For example, the North American screenings for Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning gave film-exclusive Digimon cards to fans. It’s possible that Ufotable or Crunchyroll, who will be handling international distribution, will hand out one of the Japanese exclusive gifts to fans living overseas for the upcoming Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle release.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns opened in Japan on July 18, 2025. The film is currently being slowly rolled out overseas, starting with its opening throughout Asia in August. Most English-speaking territories, including countries in North America and Europe, will not receive the film until September. The United States and Canada premieres of the movie in theaters will be on September 12th, with tickets going on sale beginning August 15th.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025, and is currently breaking all box office records. Although the first film has already been released domestically, the international premiere is still a few weeks away. Fans in the U.S. will have to wait till September 12th, 2025, before watching the film in the theaters. Tickets in North America will be available starting August 15th, 2025. The first part of the trilogy commences the intense battle against the Upper Moons inside the Infinity Castle.

The story will pick up from where it left off in the Hashira Training Arc finale. Although the Demon Slayers’ primary target is Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor, things go awry when Nakime, another high-ranking demon, throws the Corps members inside the endless labyrinth. That marks the series entering its final stage, where almost all the major characters engage in an epic showdown to stop the terror of demons. While the film was released over two weeks ago, the official website of Demon Slayer just shared the voice actors of new characters, and one of them is a famous Jujutsu Kaisen star.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

Jujutsu Kaisen Voice Actor Will Play the Role of Keizo in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Yuichi Nakamura, famous for his role as Jujutsu Kaisen’s beloved character Satoru Gojo, will be the voice behind Keizo, a minor character from Akaza’s backstory in Demon Slayer. Gojo is one of the most popular anime characters in modern times and is voiced by a veteran in the industry. Nakamura is also famous for his roles as Hajime Umemiya in Wind Breaker, Kuroo Tetsu in Haikyuu, Shigure Sohma in Fruits Basket reboot, and many more. During his fight with Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka, fans will get to see Akaza’s heartbreaking past, which will answer plenty of questions about him.

The marks on Akaza’s body, the reason he strongly opposes killing women, and the pattern that appears whenever he’s using his Blood Demon Art are all connected to his life as a human. Furthermore, Lynn, best known for voicing Princess Hibana in Fire Force and Miyako Saito in Oshi no Ko, will perform the role of Koyuki, another crucial character from Akaza’s past. Akaza’s backstory is considered one of the most tragic in the entire series, and Keizo and Koyuki had a major impact on his life.

Lastly, the website also confirms that Yoshimasa Hosoya, the voice behind Reiner Braun in Attack on Titan and Fumikage Tokoyami in My Hero Academia, joins the cast as Kaigaku, a high-ranking demon with a past connection to Zenitsu Agatsuma. Yoshimasa has previously appeared as Kaigaku for a brief moment in the first season, during Zenitsu’s backstory. However, the series didn’t reveal the character’s face before this. Although Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle focuses on intense battle, we will see the past behind certain characters, and thus, get introduced to new characters as a result.

Demon Slayer Hashira

Demon Slayer is easily one of the most talked-about anime of the past decade. Known for its emotional character arcs, unique setting, and mesmerizing animation, the show has garnered fans’ attention since its initial release in 2021. Demon Slayer follows siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado as they journey to reverse Nezuko’s demonic transformation in a world rampant with demons. Along the way, audiences watch Tanjiro train to become stronger alongside a cast of allies with special abilities that help them fight back against the evil forces threatening humanity.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for the Ending of the Demon Slayer Manga and Infinity Castle Trilogy!

As the anime draws closer to its conclusion, many fans are looking back on the highlights of the show, including the best fights that showed off individual character strengths. Many of these fights center around the Hashira: high-ranking swordsmen in Demon Slayer who take on the more difficult missions. In this list, we’re going to take a closer look at which of the Hashira rank highest in terms of raw strength, technique, and feats in the show.

9) Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu from Demon Slayer
Courtesy of Ufotable

Shinobu Kocho is the Insect Hashira, having inherited the position from her older sister, who died at the hands of Douma, Upper Moon Two. She acknowledges that she is the weakest Hashira in terms of physical strength, unable to behead a demon in the traditional sense with her sword in combat. Despite this, Shinobu manages to become a Hashira because of her cleverness, ingenuity, and skill with poison. She fights with a wisteria-edged nichirin blade, taking advantage of her speed and agility to deal poisonous blows to her enemies.

Shinobu’s technique is Insect Breathing, utilizing fast stabs and thrusts to take down demons. Shinobu created this for herself to create an advantage for her fighting style. Her speed and reflexes are able to outpace most demons, and she is even complimented by Douma for her ability to maneuver in a fight. In the end, Shinobu uses her intelligence and anger towards the Upper Moon to take Douma out, letting him feast on her poisoned blood and flesh, and avenging her beloved sister.

8) Tengen Uzui

Demon Slayer Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui is a standout among the Hashira in terms of flashy appearance and loud personality. He holds the title of the Sound Hashira before his early retirement during the “Entertainment District Arc”. Tengen was raised in a family of Shinobi, which helped him to form his strong fighting skills and familiarity with using different weaponry. The Sound Hashira is viewed as the second physically strongest of the Hashira ranks, and is the fastest among them.

His technique, Sound Breathing, is one that Tengen invented himself. This style of breathing enhances his combat abilities, such as his signature duel-wielded swords. It also amps up his heightened hearing and his Musical Score: a skill Tengen developed to read enemies’ attack formations like they were songs in front of him. During his time as a Hashira, Tengen is able to simultaneously keep up with Daki and Gyutaro, higher-ranked demons, despite being poisoned during the battle.

7) Kyojuro Rengoku

Demon Slayer Mugen Train Rengoku anime most powerful hashira

Kyojuro Rengoku is one of the most popular Demon Slayer characters and held the title of Flame Hashira in the Corps. His father was the previous Flame Hashira, initially teaching Kyojuro before stopping his training. Rengoku was not stopped by this, instead, he trained himself from a Flame Breathing technique book until he reached Hashira status. Rengoku is shown to be incredibly tactical in a fight, practicing logical combat when approaching powerful demon techniques he isn’t familiar with. This, combined with his overpowering determination, caught the attention of Upper Moon Three, Akaza, who even offered to turn Rengoku into a demon so his talent wouldn’t be wasted.

Rengoku is able to fight and overpower powerful demons in his time as a Hashira. He bests Lower Moon Two, Hairo, who acknowledges his strength and knowledge of swordsmanship. Kyojuro also helps slow Enmu down during the “Mugen Train Arc” of the anime, though the final blows go to Inosuke and Tanjiro. His technique, Flame Breathing, is complemented by Rengoku’s excellent fighting form, allowing him to impress and keep up with Akaza during their fight. It stands to reason that Rengoku might have been higher on the list if he had survived and was able to manifest a Mark like some of the other Hashira.

6) Mitsuri Kanroji

Demon Slayer mitsuri most powerful hashira
Courtesy of Ufotable

Mitsuri Kanroji is the Love Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. Initially, Mitsuri joined the Corps to find a strong husband to marry; however, her belief in the goal of the Corps is strong and her dedication to fighting surpasses her past goal. Mitsuri is shown to be a bright, cheerful, friendly woman who also hesitates very little in battle against demons. She has some of the least formal training among the Hashira, having joined the Corps later in her life, and yet still managed to pass the Final Selection after only six months of training.

Mitsuri’s technique is called Love Breathing, a technique she invented that takes advantage of her unique fighting style. She can also use Flame Breathing, having been trained by Rengoku, though she isn’t as skilled in the style. It’s also stated that Mitsuri had immense physical strength before becoming a demon slayer, something she was embarrassed about as a woman. Most notable is Mitsuri’s swordsmanship, utilizing a long, bendable sword that acts as a whip and allows Mitsuri to cut through sound waves and lightning attacks when fighting Zohakuten. Mitsuri is able to unlock her Mark when she resolves to not suppress her power any longer, gaining a power boost that lets her hold Zohakuten back for an extended time.

5) Muichiro Tokito

Tokito as seen in the trailer of the Demon Slayer upcoming movie most powerful hashira

Muichiro Tokito is easily one of the top Hashira on this list, with a well of potential that was cut too short by his death in the final battle. Tokito is the official Mist Hashira, and the youngest Hashira at just 14. It’s stated that Muichiro was able to kill a demon with simple wooden tools before ever training to become a demon slayer; after training, he reaches the ranks of Hashira after only two months, showcasing his innate talent and skill. Other Hashira, including Rengoku and Tengen, have both noticed and commented on his strength and ability.

Muichiro is shown to be extremely proficient with a blade during the “Hashira Training Arc”, overpowering the Yoriichi Type Zero doll styled after the infamous swordsman of the past. He combines these skills with his technique, Mist Breathing, of which Muichiro was able to create his own form that was later crucial in defeating an Upper Moon demon. The Mist Hashira conjures a Mark in the final battle and is able to defeat Upper Moon Five, Gyokko, on his own. Muichiro’s strength would impress even Kokushibo. Against Muzan, Muichiro continues to fight after losing limbs and suffering fatal injuries, once again confirming his strong willpower and determination towards the goal of the Corps.

4) Obanai Iguro

Obanai from Demon Slayer

Obanai Iguro, otherwise known as the Snake Hashira, tends to be one of the overlooked Hashira when speaking about raw strength. His smaller stature and effective blindness in one eye made it so Obanai isn’t as physically powerful as some of his counterparts; despite this, Obanai is shown to have complete mastery of his sword and breathing technique, and a strong willpower in battle that is a driving force during the final fight against Muzan. While closed off and slow to trust due to his past, raised by a cult that worshipped and sacrificed newborns to demons, Obanai is dedicated to the Corps and their cause.

His technique is called Serpent Breathing and was completely invented by Obanai himself, an impressive feat. The agility and speed of this technique are aided by Obanai training his pet snake, Kaburamaru, to relay information on incoming attacks to him so the Hashira can predict and counter any offense. In the “Infinity Castle Arc”, Obanai can be seen slaying numerous demons on par with Lower Moon ranks. Obanai is one of the Hashira to awaken his Mark in the last battle, holding back Upper Moon Nakime for a significant portion of time. He is also able to land multiple blows on Muzan, and is the first Hashira to awaken after being knocked unconscious and assist Tanjiro in holding the Demon King off.

3) Giyu Tomioka

Demon Slayer Giyu most powerful hashira
Courtesy of Ufotable

Giyu Tomioka is the first Hashira introduced in Demon Slayer and holds the title of Water Hashira. He is the first to vouch for Nezuko and Tanjiro’s goal among the ranks of Hashira, even putting his own life on the line to give them a chance at success. It’s also shown that Giyu holds a great deal of survivor’s guilt for becoming the Water Hashira when his best friend Sabito died in the Final Selection, even viewing himself as unworthy compared to the others in his rank. Despite these feelings, Giyu is consistently portrayed as one of the strongest among the Hashira, developing even more when his Mark is awakened.

Giyu utilizes Water Breathing in his fighting style, a technique he has mastered enough to create a new Form, Dead Calm. He’s able to easily kill Rui without much struggle, initiating this Eleventh Form to defeat the Lower Moon. Giyu is also seen killing multiple demons during Infinity Castle that were comparable in skill to the Lower Moons. In the final battle, Giyu faces off against Akaza, who comments on his strength and prowess, even offering to turn him into a demon similar to his offer with Rengoku. Giyu is crucial in ending Akaza, and is one of the slayers who aided in weakening Muzan at the end.

2) Sanemi Shinazugawa

Demon Slayer Sanemi Infinity Castle closeup

Sanemi Shinazugawa is the Wind Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, and typically acknowledged in canon as one of the strongest Hashira. Initially, Sanemi is shown as a hot-headed individual with a lust for battle and an intense hatred of the demons he fights. His apparent anger even extends to his younger brother Genya, though it’s later confirmed he merely wanted to keep his brother safe and away from the world of demon-fighting. Sanemi is one of the few Hashira to survive the final battle and acts as a crucial part of the team fighting against Muzan.

As the Wind Hashira, Sanemi is adept at Wind Breathing, and is considered the strongest Wind Breathing user of the current generation. Not only does he awaken his Mark by the end of the series, Sanemi is also able to turn his nichirin sword red in battle during important moments that aid his allies in the fight. He is able to hold off hordes of low-level demons in the “Infinity Castle Arc”. Most notably, Sanemi is one of the two responsible for finally beheading Upper Moon One, Kokushibo, even temporarily holding his own against the demon when his mark awakens.

1) Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei from Demon Slayer most powerful hashira

Gyomei Himejima is the uncontested strongest among the Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. The Sound Hashira looms above the others in his rank, visually striking with the bright colors of the beaded necklaces he wears and carries. Unlike his menacing appearance, Gyomei is gentle in nature, with a soft-spoken countenance. He’s shown to be a leader figure among the Hashira, and is also the mentor who helps to train Genya Shinazugawa. He’s recognized by multiple members of the Corps for his strength, and Kokushibo himself acknowledges that he hasn’t seen an opponent as strong as the Stone Hashira in centuries.

Gyomei, as the Stone Hashira, utilizes Stone Breathing in his fighting style. Unlike the others, Gyomei equips himself with a spiked flail and axe, able to deal devastating blows to his enemies. His blindness assists Gyomei in enhancing the Hashira’s hearing, allowing him to keep up and interact accordingly with his surroundings during combat. While fighting Kokushibo, Gyomei also reveals an awakened Mark that gives him another power scale, helping him hold his own and later behead the Upper Moon One with assistance.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is currently taking over theaters in Japan with its new movie, and the star behind Tanjiro Kamado himself teased fans about his big rematch coming in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. The new Demon Slayer film is kicking off a brand new trilogy of films adapting the massive Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and it has been taking over theaters in Japan ever since it made its debut last month. It’s been hitting all sorts of big records, and it’s no mystery why thanks to how much it has been teasing.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its international debut later this Fall, and the staff and cast appeared during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 weekend to tease fans about what to expect from the new movie. As for Tanjiro voice star Natsuki Hanae, the star played coy about how many details he could reveal for the new film but focused on Tanjiro’s upcoming rematch with the Upper Three Akaza for the first clash they’ll have since coming face to face in the Mugen Train movie.

Demon Slayer Star Teases Tanjiro’s Rematch

“So, I know I can’t tell you what’s going to happen in the movie, but perhaps this visual gave us a few hints,” Hanae stated in reference to the poster for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle released during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel (which you can see above). “You know, maybe Tanjiro is going to go up against Akaza. I know in Mugen Train, Tanjiro couldn’t do anything, so it’s going to be a spectacle to see how much Tanjiro has grown since the last film.” But as Hanae states, Tanjiro has grown a lot since then.

While it hasn’t seemed like much time has passed since the events of the Mugen Train arc, Tanjiro has been facing all sorts of tough opponents since then. He might not have fought against Akaza directly as he was powerless in the face of such a foe, seeing Rengoku in action back then is likely going to fuel Tanjiro in the way he needs to perhaps cross that bridge of power. Not only that, but it seems like Giyu Tomioka will be giving him a helping hand in the process as well.

When Does Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Actually Come Out?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its debut in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and tickets for the film will go on sale beginning August 15th. The film will also be available in premium and IMAX formats, and will be available with both Japanese and English language audio. With this only being the first film in a planned trilogy, details for its future releases have yet to be announced as of the time of this writing. But the film has been doing impressively since its release in Japan.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been breaking records previously broken by Mugen Train before, and it’s only the first in a trilogy. It’s exciting to think about how well this trilogy is going to do at the box office when adding all of its runs together, so there is a hope that the anime franchise can keep up the momentum with each new movie that comes our way before it all comes to an end.

The Demon Slayer manga by Koyoharu Gotouge debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016 and was released as an anime adaptation by Ufotable three years later. While the manga concluded its story in 2020, the anime has only just reached its final arc. The anime begins with the tragic massacre of Tanjiro Kamado’s mother and siblings, and the only surviving family member, Nezuko, being turned into a demon. Even though it’s an impossible dream, he wishes to find a cure for his sister that would turn her back into a human. Tanjiro’s epic journey will soon reach its conclusion with the upcoming films.

The final manga arc is being adapted into a trilogy, and the first film has already been released in Japan. However, there are still a few weeks before the international release, including in the U.S., as the film will premiere on September 12th, 2025. Tickets in North America will be on sale starting August 15th, so don’t forget to mark your calendars. The promotion for the film is in full swing, with the anime’s cast being as active as possible. Mantan Web interviewed Nezuko’s voice actor, Aka Kito, who shared her thoughts on the series as well as her experience playing one of the series’ main characters.

Aka Kito Explains Why Tanjiro’s Determination Made Her Cry

Demon Slayer Nezuko Tanjiro's resolve

According to Mantan Web, Kito shared it was “very moving” to reach the Infinity Castle Arc, roughly six years after the anime debut. She also has strong feelings about the Infinity Castle Arc. Kito shared her feelings before the anime debut, “When the Demon Slayer anime began, the Infinity Castle Arc hadn’t yet been depicted in the original manga series, and I myself was reading the manga thinking, So this is how it’s going to turn out.”

She added, “I felt like I was reading the Infinity Castle Arc as both Nezuko and myself, so I have a strong attachment to it. I read the manga, wondering what would happen, and now it’s finally being made into a movie, so I’m deeply moved.”

She also said in a Demon Slayer event, “When I remember the story of Tanjiro Kamado’s Determination Arc, I start to cry.”

Although Demon Slayer is a thrilling battle Shonen, at its core, the story is deeply emotional. Everything that happened in the story before the Infinity Train Arc is part of the Unwavering Resolve Arc, which is divided into six short arcs. It highlights Tanjiro’s resolve as a 13-year-old boy who has suddenly lost everything in his life. However, he keeps pushing forward in hopes of one day saving his sister.

Tanjiro’s path up until now hasn’t been easy, but it was his strong determination that made him continue his arduous journey. His resolve is a major part of his character writing as it’s the sole reason for him to continue walking the path of the Demon Slayer. He has come a long way since then and grown significantly, and now the Infinity Castle Arc will put him to the ultimate test.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is finally out in Japan, but much of the rest of the world is still left wishing to see the epic trilogy kick off. While the film is currently running in the Japanese theaters, fans in the U.S. will have to wait until September 12th before watching the epic final showdown against the Upper Moons. The film’s promotions are in full swing, and Demon Slayer is getting more attention than ever. According to the anime’s official website, a special summer holiday project, “Demon Slayer and Summer Vacation,” has begun airing. It began on August 1st, 2025, as a way for fans to enjoy the season along with the film. The first project is a radio calisthenics video titled “Demon Slayer and Radio Calisthenics,” which was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Aniplex at 7:00 AM JST on August 1st.

Additionally, the calisthenics project will release five new videos every week featuring the mini Corps members in the background. The second project, titled “Demon Slayer Silhouette Quiz,” will be released on August 8th, at the same time. As the name suggests, participants will have to guess the character based on their silhouette. Lastly, the third video has a mysterious title, “Look the Other Way With the Demon Slayer Corps.” Participants will go head-to-head with the mini Corps members and prove who’s stronger. The project is introduced as a fun way to promote the latest film. The only downside is that it’s limited to Japanese fans, who can participate on the official website.

What To Expect From Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Tanjiro

The animation studio behind Demon Slayer, Ufotable, announced in June 2024, after the Hashira Training Arc anime finale, that the final manga will be adapted into a trilogy film. The first part will commence the Infinity Castle Arc as the Demon Slayers get thrown inside the Infinity Castle, Muzan’s secret base. Nakime, the demon whose Blood Demon Art manifests the castle, saw Muzan getting ambushed by the Demon Slayers and used her powers to separate them in an endless labyrinth. The worst part is that the Upper Moons, who are all unbelievably strong, await their enemies. The Demon Slayers should have fought only Muzan, and the Upper Moons would have died anyway.

However, with no way to turn to, the Corps members have no choice but to raise their swords against some of the most powerful characters in the verse. The trailer already hyped the fight between Tanjiro and Akaza, and it’s going to be intense. Shinobu will also get her limelight in her duel against Doma, the Upper Rank Two. However, all eyes are on Zenitsu, who is facing a mysterious demon, and it’s clear how much he has changed since the Hashira Training Arc.

While these three will be the highlights of the film, a lot of fights will take place. Infinity Castle is an action-driven arc where almost all the major characters participate in order to defeat their enemies. Additionally, the arc has a lot of emotional depth, and a lot of the Demon Slayers, including Tanjiro, are driven by personal motives while also doing their best to eradicate the Demons once and for all.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle arc, the final arc of the series, is divided into three movies, depicting the concluding events across three installments. Fans are highly anticipating this arc’s anime adaptation with Ufotable’s stellar production, and as of now, the first of the trilogy is currently playing in Japanese theaters. The initial reception for the first movie has been outstanding, and it is clear that those who have already seen it are eagerly awaiting the second installment of the trilogy. While it has been confirmed that Demon Slayer’s final arc will be presented in a trilogy movie format, so far, only the release date of the first movie has been announced. It is currently out in Japanese theaters and will begin screening in U.S. theaters on September 12.

Although the release dates of the next two movies are yet to be confirmed, a pattern was noted after the franchise’s first movie, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, was released. A year after Mugen Train premiered, it was released on streaming platforms, including a re-edited version divided into seven regular anime episodes. This re-release was strategically scheduled before the debut of the following arc, the Entertainment District arc. It seems this schedule was optimal, and the release of the remaining movies in the final arc trilogy could potentially follow a similar pattern.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy May Conclude by the Fall of 2027

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Tanjiro
Ufotable

To be precise, the re-edited version of Mugen Train was scheduled seven weeks prior to the release of the Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc, starting on October 10, 2021, almost a year after the movie’s initial theatrical release in Japan. Following a similar pattern, the re-edited version of the first movie in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy may also be released around a year later, in July 2026. Given that this movie is longer than Mugen Train, its re-edited version could be expanded into eight to nine episodes. After the weekly broadcast of these episodes, the second movie would follow, potentially releasing as early as September 2026 in Japan.

It is likely that the U.S. screening would begin two months later, allowing fans in Western regions to access the second movie around November 2026. Continuing this pattern, the re-edited anime format of the second movie, possibly spanning seven to eight episodes, could be released a year later, starting in September 2027. Following the same weekly rollout, the anime version of the second installment could wrap up by late November 2027, allowing the final movie to be released after it in the same month in Japan. Similarly, fans in the West may expect a delay of about two months, giving them access to the final movie of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy in January 2028.

There is clear merit in the franchise following the same approach as with Mugen Train. The re-edited versions not only serve as effective recaps but also include the beloved “Taisho Era Secrets” segments, adding fresh content to the movie narrative. Ultimately, this extended timeline allows Ufotable to maintain the exceptional quality they are known for. In that regard, the release of the remaining two movies in the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy may understandably take even longer.

Ufotable announced in June 2024, after the Hashira Training Arc finale, that the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy would be adapting the manga’s final arc. Ever since the Entertainment District Arc, the Demon Slayers have managed to defeat some of the Upper Moons, but the real threats are the top three. Not to mention that Muzan Kibutsuji is still the biggest threat to the Demon Slayer Corps. The Corps’ leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, sacrificed himself along with his wife and two daughters to give the Demon Slayers, especially the Hashira, an opening to ambush the demon progenitor. While Tamayo did manage to inject poison into his body, Muzan is still standing strong.

On the other hand, the Demon Slayers are thrown inside the Infinity Castle, Muzan’s hideout, where the Upper Moons await them. The final showdown against the demons will commence in the first part of the trilogy. The film was released in Japan on July 18th, 2025. Meanwhile, fans in the U.S. will have to wait till September 12th, 2025, before watching the film in the theaters. Tickets will be available starting August 15th, so make sure to mark your calendars. As international fans await the film’s release, the official website of the anime announces a special surprise for Japanese fans watching the film in the theaters.

On July 27th, 2025, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle unveiled its third key visual, hyping the best fight in the series. The visual highlights Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado teaming up against the Upper Rank Three, Akaza. While the trailer already confirmed the fight between Tanjiro and Akaza, we see the first glimpse of Giyu fighting the demon. Tanjiro has fought alongside several Hashira before, but this will be the first time the two will fight side-by-side. Although the duo had the same in the Mount Natagumo Arc, it was mostly Giyu coming to Tanjiro’s rescue since the latter had barely tapped into his true powers.

However, Tanjiro has grown a lot since then, and we will see the fruit of his labor against the most powerful demon he has ever faced. Fighting Akaza also sparks a flame in Tanjiro’s heart since he is determined to avenge Kyojuro Rengoku’s death. Meanwhile, Giyu will also play a crucial role in the fight and lend Tanjiro the support he needs.

Two days after the visual was released, on July 29th, the official website announced that an A-5 size art stand of the above key visual would be distributed among visitors. The distribution will begin on August 2nd and is limited to 3 million people nationwide in Japan.

Before this, fans watching the film in the theaters were given another illustration as part of a special bonus to promote the film. The illustration was based on the cover of Chapter 140 of the manga featuring Muzan, Tanjiro, Tamayo, and the seven Hashira who fought in the Infinity Castle Arc. The gift will only be distributed until August 1st before getting replaced by a new visual.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle continues to break box office records in Japan as the film gets closer to its U.S. release date. The film’s success was more or less guaranteed considering the massive popularity of the franchise. However, even by those standards, the box records are historical, to say the least. After the Hashira Training Arc anime season reached its finale in June 2024, Ufotable announced that the final arc would be adapted into a trilogy film. The first part of the film will continue the story after the Demon Slayers ambush Muzan Kibutsuji and attempt to end him in a single blow.

However, it will take a lot more than that to take down the demon progenitor. Just when Tamayo injected a poison to weaken Muzan, all the Demon Slayers were sucked inside the Infinity Castle, where the Upper Moons await them. Although the latest film will feature an epic showdown between Akaza and Tanjiro, there’s a lot more to look forward to. Infinity Castle is an action-driven arc where almost all the major characters engage in battle. Apart from Akaza, the Upper Rank Two Doma will also gain considerable spotlight in the film thanks to his fight against Shinobu. However, while Akaza’s voice actor, Akira Ishida, enjoyed Doma’s fight, he also expressed his dislike towards the villain.

Akaza’s Voice Actor Doesn’t Particularly Like Doma

Demon Slayer Akaza Doma

In an interview with Mantan Web, Ishida talks about the two crucial fights in the latest film, “Each of them has a different fighting style, so you could say they have their own niche. Even though it’s a showdown between a corps member and a demon, it’s not like the same thing continues over and over again, which was really worth watching.”

He further expands on the fight between Shinobu and Doma. Ishida added, “Doma’s nastiness really stood out.” In the first episode of the Swordsmith Village Arc, Akaza and Doma had a rather unpleasant interaction, and the latter’s way of talking further aggravated the Upper Three. While Doma carefully hid his animosity, Akaza was more open about how he couldn’t tolerate the Upper Two.

Demon Slayer Doma
Ufotable

Although the Upper Moons don’t necessarily get along, they are at least cordial with one another because of their respect towards Muzan. However, regarding that scene when Doma annoyed Akaza, Ishida said, “Ever since then, I personally thought, ‘I don’t really like this character,’ but I also thought that Akaza probably doesn’t really like him that much either. (In Chapter 1) That kind of character of Douma was on full display, and his hatefulness really stood out.”

Doma was introduced in the Swordsmith Village Arc and stood out among the other Upper Moons since he presents himself as warm, charming, and polite, often smiling and speaking in a gentle tone. That overly polite yet emotionally detached attitude of his often comes out as creepy. However, this also makes Doma one of the best villains in the series. Fans who have read the manga know better how incredible this villain could be. Ishida notices how he and the character he voices share something in common, even if it’s hatred toward a popular villain.

Since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle premiered in Japan two weeks ago, the film has been breaking opening records set by the previous Demon Slayer movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train. The film has only been gaining in popularity, as more fans continue to swarm the Japanese theaters, and now the film has officially beat the previous records. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is now the fastest film to reach 10 billion yen in Japan’s history, hitting the mark in only ten days.

As announced by Aniplex, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle‘s first film has sold 9,104,483 tickets for 12,872,176,700 yen (which equates to about $87.10 million USD) in its first ten days at the box office. It reached the ten billion yen mark within eight days at the box office, which makes it the fastest film in Japan’s history to reach that milestone. The record was previously held by Mugen Train, which still holds the record of being the most successful film in Japan’s history overall. But if the film keeps up this trajectory, that record might get broken too.”

Demon Slayer Kagaya

Kagaya Ubuyashi is easily the most underrated Demon Slayer character among most fans. As the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, he was loved by everyone in the organization. However, people didn’t respect him because of his title, but rather they admired his personality, kindness, and the ability to soothe anyone’s soul with his calming voice. However, because of the curse put on his bloodline for sharing the same blood as Muzan Kibutsuji, Kagaya was doomed to die young. He always had a frail body, but still cared deeply for the Corps members, even after he couldn’t even move anymore. Because of the curse his family was forced to carry for over a thousand years, Kagaya held deep resentment towards the demon progenitor.

No one could’ve figured out the animosity his kind face was showing. Even after facing Muzan in the Hashira Training Arc finale in the anime, Kagaya was able to converse with the villain with exceptional calmness. What’s truly surprising is that not even Muzan could bring himself to hate the frail and sickly man in front of him, despite being mortal enemies. However, what Kagaya did next shocked the demon to his very core, something he never would’ve anticipated. Kagaya blew up the Ubuyashiki manor, taking his life along with his wife and two daughters. This act triggered the final battle against the demons.

Kagaya’s Voice Actor Shares Thoughts on the Best Demon Slayer Anime Scene

In an interview with Oricon, Kagaya’s voice actor, Toshiyuki Morikawa, shares his experience working on the anime. In the anime, before blowing the mansion, Kagaya said to Muzan, “Eternity lies in human emotions. Human emotions are what make us eternal and indestructible.” The interviewer asked Morikawa about this scene and how he perceived the character as well as the series. Morikawa replied, “I believe this line captures the essence of the work. The fact that Oyakata-sama (Master or Lord) speaks these words to Muzan holds great significance.”

He continued, “The greatest appeal of this work lies in human emotions. It portrays intangible aspects such as feelings towards life, family, and friends, and focuses on these elements. I believe this is what makes Demon Slayer so compelling. Indeed, human emotions are eternal and indestructible.”

Demon Slayer Muzan Kagaya

After coming face-to-face with Muzan, Kagaya knew that the one thing the demon wanted was eternity. The demon had been around for over a thousand years, but he could only be free when he could walk under the sun. Kagaya had a different perspective from Muzan on what eternity means. He placed great value on humans, including the Corps members, whom he always referred to as his children.

Kagaya believed that humans’ greatest strength is eternity, not a never-ending life, but the ability to feel emotions as well as being able to remember those who have departed. The manga also highlighted how he would visit the graves of the deceased Demon Slayers every day until his condition became so critical that he couldn’t get up from bed.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is the result of his actions and unwavering resolve to see the end of demons in his generation. The first part of the trilogy film was released on July 18th, 2025, but only in Japanese theaters. The film will hit the U.S. theaters on September 12th, 2025, and tickets will be available starting August 15th.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been absolutely dominating theaters in Japan since it hit theaters earlier this month, and the new Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle movie has already made history. The Demon Slayer anime franchise continues to be magic in the theater as it last started making waves with the release of Mugen Train in theaters several years ago. That film went on to be one of the most financially successful films in Japan’s history, and that lightning in a bottle is somehow being captured twice with the release of the first in its new Infinity Castle movie.

In the nearly two weeks since the film’s release in Japan, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been breaking a bunch of opening records previously set by Mugen Train. It’s been only getting hotter as more fans get their chance to see the new film in the region, and with its latest update has crossed over its most impressive milestone yet. Beating another previous record set by Mugen Train, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is now the fastest film to reach 10 billion yen in Japan’s history, hitting the mark in only ten days.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Makes Movie History in Japan

As announced by Aniplex, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle‘s first film has sold 9,104,483 tickets for 12,872,176,700 yen (which equates to about $87.10 million USD) in its first ten days at the box office. The record was previously held by Mugen Train, which still holds the record of being the most successful film in Japan’s history overall. But if the film keeps up this trajectory, that record might get broken too.

It just goes to show the kind of impact Demon Slayer still has as a franchise in Japan. It’s now much more successful than it was when Mugen Train first hit, so fans are going to keep a close eye on each of the movies in this trilogy as the anime franchise prepares to come to its end. With some key final battles to keep an eye on through each of the movies, this box office success is going to be interesting to see tracked across all three releases as they hit worldwide box offices.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Movie Come Out?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its debut in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and tickets for the film will go on sale beginning August 15th. The film will also be available in premium and IMAX formats, and will be available with both Japanese and English language audio. With this only being the first film in a planned trilogy, details for its future releases have yet to be announced as of the time of this writing.

The directors behind the upcoming trilogy teased fans about the kind of animation fans can expect with Demon Slayer’s new outings, and it’s really been intriguing to see it get so much success in Japan alone. As fans continue to flock to it, there are going to be questions as to whether or not it can maintain this level of momentum not only through its international releases, but through the releases of its trilogy on a whole.

It should not come as a surprise to anyone that when Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle trilogy was announced, the films would shatter records everywhere, but the release of the first movie is taking everyone by surprise as it easily dominates the Japanese box office and reaches a monumental milestone. The reviews for the movie are also glowing, and although it has been less than 2 weeks since the release of the movie, it would not be premature to declare it a total success, and it will only keep getting more successful when the world gets to see what has been cooking up.

According to a new article by Oricon that dives into this weekend’s box office trends, Demon SlayerInfinity Castle Arc Part 1: Akaza’s Return has hit 10 billion Yen in just 10 days, and now has a total of 12.8 billion Yen (approximately $86 million) with 9.1 million tickets sold. Furthermore, it drew in 2.121 million viewers and earned 3.099 billion yen over this three-day weekend and absolutely dominated in its second week. It has shot up to be the 29th highest-grossing movie in Japanese history in just 14 days. The number one movie in the country, as well as what truly pushed the franchise over the top, similarly had such a ranking and attendees in the two weeks it was out, which means that the first part of the trilogy has the potential to soar just as high or even higher.

Demon Slayer Is on Track to Make History Yet Again

The reviews are mesmerized by the movie’s incredible animation and visuals that pushed the fight scenes to the absolute max, as well as the dazzling and intricate landscape of the castle. Akaza also stole the show with his heart-jerking backstory that recontextualised his character, as well as his fight with Tanjiro. Between the score, action and the use of 3-D, the praise for the film’s production quality is endless, and given just how brilliantly animated Mugen Train and past seasons were, international movie-goers should be prepared for an incredible experience.

The fact that the first part of the movie is doing so well shows the momentum and popularity the franchise holds, and manga readers know that the next 2 parts are even crazier in terms of twists and turns. With the worldwide release coming in August 2025, Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle part 1 will truly be yet another phenomenon that takes over the box office of many countries around the world, just like it managed to do a few years ago.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has been doing very well for itself ever since the new movie made its debut in Japan, and the directors behind the upcoming film teased how cool the new animation is going to look. Demon Slayer is now making the anime’s return to theaters across Japan this Summer with the first in a planned trilogy of new feature films, so the team behind the TV anime is going all out for this new endeavor. It’s all from top to bottom as each step of the process has been carefully considered during the trilogy’s production.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is gearing up to kick off its launch in North America later this Fall, and the directors and members of the voice cast behind the trilogy took the stage during San Diego Comic-Con 2025 for a huge takeover of Hall H (as held by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment). It’s here that director Haruo Sotozaki and director of photography Yuichi Terao teased their work on the trilogy, and Terao teased fans that, “At ufotable and Demon Slayer, we are going for the most epic and the most gorgeous animation you can get.”

Demon Slayer Directors Tease Infinity Castle’s Animation

“As the director of photography in anime, we get all these different materials from different team members,” director of photography Yuichi Terao began when explaining his role on the film. “So we’ll have the character animation, the background, the effects, and they’ll all land on my desk. I take all of these different elements and then compile them in a single shot. Then, we will do the lighting and make the final look and any 2D effects that might be needed.” Continuing further, Terao then revealed how this would all lead into the final product fans see in the trilogy.

“So, we will go through and do the color, the lighting — maybe rain, snow, smoke, that type of effect,” Terao continues. “Ultimately translating that into the world setting that you have in Demon Slayer. At ufotable and Demon Slayer, we are going for the most epic and the most gorgeous animation you can get.” Director Haruo Sotozaki then revealed how closely they try and bring the manga’s style to life in only a way that ufotable and this anime franchise can by paying attention to certain aspects of Koyoharu Gotoge’s art.

Demon Slayer Director on Bringing the Manga to Life

“I paid very close attention to the thickness of the lines from the manga,” director Haruo Sotozaki revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel. “I want to make sure that that information was preserved when we took it from manga to anime. So it took a lot of trial and error, playing with the thickness of the lines in the anime itself – with my director of photography – to finally land on the anime visuals that you see in the water breathing technique. We drew inspiration from ancient Japanese ukiyo-e style artwork.”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be making its debut in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and it was also announced during the SDCC 2025 panel that tickets for the film will go on sale beginning August 15th. This is the first film in a planned trilogy of new releases, but the second and third films of this new trilogy have yet to confirm a release window or date as of the time of this writing.

The first movie of the highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy is all set for its Japanese release on July 18th, 2025. It will hit the U.S. theaters on September 12th, 2025. Ufotable is using the most unconventional way of wrapping up the series’ final arc, which was only decided after the record-breaking success of the Infinity Train movie. The upcoming film will continue the story after the Demon Slayers are sucked inside the Infinity Castle, Muzan’s hideout that no one has been able to find till now. After the Demon Slayers barely manage to weaken the demon progenitor, they now have to face off against the Upper Moons, and each of them has unique abilities.

The top three among them are even more powerful, which means the fight against them will be just as interesting. Demon Slayer is technically a battle Shonen, but no other arc in the series focuses this heavily on the battle other than the Infinity Castle. We get to see some thrilling moments along with the heartbreaking losses the Demon Slayer Corps has to suffer. Interestingly enough, a lot of the match-ups were driven by personal motives, which made them all the more intriguing.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

However, she still rose to the ranks of the Hashira thanks to a special poison she created that kills demons in an instant. Shinobu’s sword is laced with poison made from wisteria, and she injects it into demons during battle. She makes up for her lack of strength with her speed, which even demons have a hard time keeping up with. However, Doma isn’t just any ordinary demon; he’s the Upper Moon Two, one of the strongest demons in history.

Shinobu has a grudge to settle with the demon, which is why the match-up makes perfect sense. She knew defeating an Upper Moon Two was almost an impossible task, which is why she spent a long time coming up with a strategy, which, unfortunately, required her sacrifice. She had been poisoning herself for about a year, which would severely weaken any demon that consumed her. Knowing Doma’s habit of eating any woman he sees, she knew he wouldn’t let go of an opportunity to eat a female Hashira. Shinobu entrusted her sister Kanao to strike the final blow to the demon after her death.

2) Zenitsu Agatsuma vs. Kaigaku

ufotable

If you’re surprised by Zenitsu’s cold glare in the Infinity Castle trailer, then rest assured, his fight against Kaigaku will be even more bone-chilling. During the final stage of the Hashira Training, Zenitsu learns that his master, the former Thunder Hashira, committed Seppuku, a form of ritual suicide, after his student Kaigaku willingly turned into a demon. He even immediately became an Upper Moon Six to fill in the vacancy before the final showdown. Zenitsu abandons all hesitation after losing the only person he cares about.

What’s worse is that Kaigaku, despite having his memories as a human, never once regretted his actions. Zenistu and Kaigaku were learning the breathing style under the same master, but never got along well because of Kaigaku. He always mocked Zenitsu, who was only able to learn the first form, the most difficult form that even Kaigaku couldn’t master. The fight between them is brief, but it ends on a surprising note when Zenitsu decapitates the demon with a single strike using a seventh form he created all by himself.

3) Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka vs. Akaza

©Koyoharu Gotoge / SHUEISHA, Aniplex, ufotable

The unfortunate death of Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, deeply impacted Tanjiro, who both admired the man’s bravery and was heartbroken to witness his demise. At the time, Akaza deemed Tanjiro unworthy of his attention and paid him no mind. On the other hand, even with his fatal injuries, Rengoku almost kept Akaza out in the open before sunrise, but the demon made a run for it at the last minute. Tanjiro, who was accompanied by Giyu, stumbles upon Akaza again in the Infinity Castle.

This team-up between Giyu and Tanjiro was a lot different from the Mount Natagumo arc since the two are now fighting on an equal level. This highlights Tanjiro’s phenomenal growth in a short span since he can finally stand toe-to-toe with a Hashira. However, even their combined efforts were barely enough for the Upper Moon Three. Both Demon Slayers push themselves past their limits and unlock the abilities they never knew they had. The story also highlights Akaza’s heartwrenching backstory and his emotional, yet tranquil farewell.

4) Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira vs Doma

Demon Slayer Doma
Shueisha

After witnessing Shinobu’s death, Kanao wastes no time in challenging the Upper Moon Two. For Doma, who effortlessly consumed a Hashira, dealing with Kanao should’ve been an easy task. However, he never would’ve guessed that Shinobu would come up with an insane plan of poisoning herself. Because she only injected herself with poison that harms demons, Doma’s body weakens until it begins to affect his powers. Despite that, Kanao is still having a hard time against the demon. However, Shinobu knew what her sister was capable of, and that’s why she burdened Kanao with such a task.

It wasn’t long before Inosuke also arrived at the scene and lent her a hand. Kanao not only has to defeat the demon for the sake of the Corps, but she must avenge her sisters as well. In Inosuke’s case, he also learns about the death of his mother at Doma’s hands. Inosuke regains his memories as an infant, including the short time he spent with his mother as well as what caused their separation. Both young Demon Slayers pushed themselves to the extreme and finally finished what Shinobu started. It wasn’t long before Doma disintegrated into nothing.

5) Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro vs Nakime

Demon Slayer Mitsuri Obanai
Ufotable

As all the other Demon Slayers challenge the Upper Moons, Mitsuri and Obanai have their hands full with Nakime, a newly promoted Upper-Rank Four, as well as the one controlling the Infinity Castle. The Infinity Castle is her blood demon art, and so long as the Demon Slayers are inside it, they will be at a clear disadvantage. They were easily able to figure out Nakime’s powers, which strengthened their resolve to take her down. Although Nakime had an exceptional ability, she didn’t specialize in combat, unlike the other Upper Moons. This is why Muzan never made an Upper Moon before despite her useful ability.

However, Nakime made up for her lack of experience in battle through her wits. Using her Blood Demon Art, she continuously shifted the structure of the fortress to separate and isolate Mitsuri and Obanai, preventing them from effectively fighting together or reaching her directly. Nonetheless, thanks to the combined efforts of both Hashira, Nakime loses the fight, and Yushiro takes control of her vision in order to expose Muzan to sunlight.

6) Muichiro Tokito, Genya Shinazugawa, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Gyomei Himejima vs Kokushibo

Tokito as seen in the trailer of the Demon Slayer upcoming movie

Kokushibo is the Upper-Rank One and the strongest demon after Muzan. His powers far exceed those of Upper Moons Two and Three, so much so that even the combined efforts of several Demon Slayers weren’t enough to take him down easily. The fight is heartbreaking and involves several sacrifices, as well as Kokushibo’s backstory, which explores his relationship with his younger twin brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Unlike Yoriichi, who dedicated his entire life to the hopes of defeating Muzan, Kokushibo gave up his humanity out of fear and has lived as a demon ever since.

Amid the battle, we learn that Muichiro is Kokushibo’s direct descendant, which is why the Demon Slayer Corps was eager to recruit him and his brother. Not only that, but the fight also explored the emotional turmoil of the Shinazugawa brothers. Even with Gyomei’s help, they were barely able to slow Kokushibo down. In the end, he died not only because of being outnumbered or injured but the fact that his resolve was wavering also contributed to his demise.

7) Demon Slayers vs. Muzan Kibutsuji (Second Round)

Demon Slayer Muzan Final Arc
Shueisha

The Demon Slayers didn’t get a chance to finish the fight against Muzan after the death of Kagaya Ubuyashiki. However, thanks to Tamayo injecting the villain with a poison she created with Shinobu, she severely weakened him. After the brutal battle in the Infinity Castle, the Demon Slayers were exhausted and battered, but they still didn’t have the luxury to catch their breath. Struggling with physical pain and emotional distress after losing their loved ones, the surviving members of the Corps face the demon progenitor once again.

As expected, even then, Muzan was able to put up a good fight despite being cornered. This is why the Demon Slayers couldn’t even consider the possibility of severing his head, so their only option was to keep him in the open till the sun rises. Unfortunately, that’s a lot easier said than done, as the Corps continued to suffer several casualties until Muzan disintegrated into the dust.

8) Demon Slayers vs. Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Demon
Shueisha

No one could’ve expected that even on the brink of death, Muzan had one trick up his sleeve. Almost the entire Demon Slayer Corps gets wiped out in the night-long battle, but just as they are able to taste victory, Muzan uses his last bit of strength to inject his blood into Tanjiro and turn him into a demon. Tanjiro is not only significantly stronger than before, but he can even conquer the sun, which was Muzan’s dream all along.

The Demon Slayers have to face a precious member of the Corps, who contributed significantly to their cause. Tanjiro went on a rampage and even attacked Giyu and Inosuke, who tried to stop him. It wasn’t until Nezuko showed up that he was finally starting to calm down. Kanao uses the last bit of her strength to inject him with the medicine that will turn him into a human again. While the other Demon Slayers were struggling against him, Tanjiro was also resisting Muzan’s control over him. With everyone’s help, Tanjiro regains his humanity and the villain turns into dust, bringing an era of peace that came at the price of countless lives.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 is currently airing, delving deeper into Kafka’s life as a soldier in the Defense Force, tasked with eliminating the Kaiju. However, his role has taken on a unique significance this season, with his identity as Kaiju No. 8 now revealed. Kafka is being deployed as a weapon to combat other powerful Kaiju, particularly Kaiju No. 9, who possesses the ability to shapeshift into human form. With two episodes out so far, the anime is steadily advancing its narrative. Episode 2, in particular, felt like a complete installment, as it finally featured the opening and ending theme songs with visuals, giving the episode a more structured presentation.

Notably, the latest episode also introduced a fun element reminiscent of a fan-favorite feature from the Demon Slayer anime. While Demon Slayer is celebrated for many qualities, one of its most beloved elements appears after the episode ends. Most episodes include a short segment titled “Taisho Era Secret,” which breaks the fourth wall and offers additional character insights not typically shown; it’s a beloved post-episode treat, and strongly resembles those of older anime like Naruto. Similarly, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Episode 2 includes a brief segment at the end that provides lighthearted, extra information, adding a fun twist to the episode.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Incorporates a Shonen Anime Post-Episode Tradition

Kafka and Hoshina as seen in Hoshina Night Nippon first episode.
Production I.G.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Episode 2, titled “The Next Generation’s Trail”, surprises fans after the ending sequence with a brief segment called “Hoshina Night Nippon.” This fun addition features Soshiro Hoshina, the vice-captain of the Third Division, as the narrator. Using a similar chibi animation style seen in Demon Slayer’s “Taisho Era Secret” segments, Kaiju No. 8 delivers a lighthearted moment where Hoshina announces that he’ll be hosting guests on this special program, starting with Kafka as his first. Through their humorous exchange, fans learn a quirky detail about Hoshina that otherwise wouldn’t be revealed in the main story.

This segment is set to be both fun and memorable, especially with Hoshina, arguably one of the show’s most entertaining characters, at the helm. As Kafka transitions to the First Division, it’s clear that the focus of the main plot will shift accordingly. Therefore, this side segment offers a clever way to keep the Third Division in the spotlight, giving fans additional moments with beloved characters they might otherwise miss.

Interestingly, instead of drawing direct inspiration from Demon Slayer’s own fun segments, or Jujutsu Kaisen, or other shonen anime from prior eras, there might be other inspirations at play. This feature may be a nod to the Japanese radio show All Night Nippon, known for its pop culture commentary and quirky interactions. A fun connection is that Gen Hoshino, one of the current hosts of All Night Nippon, coincidentally shares a similar name with Hoshina. This makes it likely that Kaiju No. 8’s Hoshina Night Nippon is inspired by the iconic radio program. Regardless, it’s a welcome addition that highlights the charm and creativity seen in some of the best anime today.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is now taking over theaters with its Summer launch in Japan, and the star behind Zenitsu Agatsuma teased fans about a “new version” of the slayer that fans won’t be ready to see. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has kicked off a new trilogy of films taking on the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga, and with it has started to adapt the final fights between Tanjiro Kamado and the slayers against Muzan Kibutsuji’s demonic forces. Which means everyone has a major fight coming their way with the new trilogy.

Zenitsu’s fight in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is one of the most intriguing for the trilogy as a whole as fans have been teased with a very intense looking Zenitsu staring down a mysterious foe. But as the film gets ready for its international release later this Fall, voice star Aleks Le revealed during the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 that this film is going to reveal a “new version of things that nobody is prepared for.”

Zenitsu Star Teases New Demon Slayer Movie

“I’ve been voicing this character for a long time, and how I would describe him to a lot of people is that he’s very extreme on all ends,” Aleks Le began as he teased Zenitsu’s role in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle during San Diego Comic-Con 2025. “He’s very extreme on the comedic side. On the focus side. We have seen these two sides of him, but something that we haven’t seen yet is his more vulnerable side, truly. And, I feel that this film is going to bring out a whole new version of things that nobody is prepared for.” Which is a very exciting tease for Zenitsu’s future.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle dropped the first look at Zenitsu’s fight for the arc, and is teased that he will be facing off against a member of Muzan’s Upper Ranks that has yet to be fully revealed in motion. After receiving a mysterious letter during the Hashira Training arc, Zenitsu looked incredibly focused and serious compared to the way he had been before. Just looking at him teases how personal of a fight this is going to be for Zenitsu, and that’s only one of the major fights we’ll get to see.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Movie Come Out?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will begin its international territory roll out this Summer, and will be making its way to the United States and Canada on September 12th. It was also announced during the film’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel that tickets for the new film will go on sale beginning on August 15th. The new film will be screening in both Japanese and English language audio with premium and IMAX formats also being available in select theaters too. With it adapting the Infinity Castle arc, there’s a lot to take on.

This is only the first film in the planned Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, but it has yet to be announced when fans can expect to see the second film. There’s a hope that it won’t be too long of a wait in between each film to keep up the momentum, but we’ll see how that shakes out soon enough. This first film is also going to have a runtime of two hours and 35 minutes, so the wait will be worth it either way.

Demon Slayer anime is set to present the manga’s final arc, an all-out war between the Demon Slayers and the demons to decide humanity’s fate, across three movies. The first installment of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy is currently screening in Japanese theaters and will debut in U.S. theaters starting September 12th, 2025. With a runtime of over 2 hours and 30 minutes, the first film will cover the opening act of the final battle, featuring the intense fight between Akaza, Upper Moon Rank 3, and the protagonist Tanjiro, alongside the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka. Paired with Ufotable’s high-caliber animation, this installment is poised to be one of the studio’s most impressive projects to date.

Following its record-breaking reception in Japan, the film is already exceeding fans’ expectations. From its top-tier animation to sequences that go beyond the already exceptional visuals of the series, the movie-length format offers something truly special. However, this format may come with a trade-off. One of the anime’s most beloved elements, the “Taisho Era Secret”, might not be included. In the regular episodes, this chibi-style segment appears after the credits and features characters breaking the fourth wall to share fun, quirky insights. While it’s currently unclear if these movies will include the segment, there’s a strong possibility that it may be omitted, as a previous movie-length installment had also omitted this section.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movies May Not Bring Back the Anime’s Best Element

Tanjiro as seen in Taisho Era Secret

This isn’t the first time Demon Slayer has presented an entire arc in a movie format. The franchise previously released Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which adapted the Infinity Train arc and concluded with the emotional confrontation between Akaza and the Flame Hashira, Rengoku. Notably, this movie-length project did not include the Taisho Era Secret segment after the credits. Therefore, despite fans hoping to see a new Taisho Era Secret, the likelihood of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movies featuring this element remains very low. However, it’s not entirely true that fans may never see a new installment of this beloved segment again.

A year after the release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the movie was broken down into a seven-episode arc in the regular anime format. The first five episodes of this restructured arc included the fun Taisho Era Secret segments, once again providing fans with quirky and insightful character details. This precedent makes it entirely possible that a year after the release of the first Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie, it may also be re-edited into standard-length episodes, potentially bringing back the Taisho Era Secret segments. The anime would benefit from this approach, especially considering the likely two-year gap between each movie release. Releasing the movie content as episodes would help maintain the hype around the final arc while offering fans new insights through the return of the Taisho Era Secret moments.

The highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film made its debut in Japan on July 18th this year. While it’s currently showing in the Japanese theaters, global fans are still awaiting the official release in their respective countries. It’s the first part of the trilogy, which will feature the fight against the Demon Slayers and the Upper Rank demons. As such, the film’s promotions are in full swing with new visuals being shared during San Diego Comic-Con 2025 every now and then. The latest visual highlights Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka teaming up against Akaza, the Upper Rank Three.

Akaza was introduced in the Infinity Train film and immediately became one of the fan-favorite villains. His fight with Kyojuro Rengoku is considered one of the best moments in the series, which ended in the Flame Hashira’s demise. Tanjiro was there to witness everything, and it’s safe to say, he holds a grudge against Akaza for what happened with Kyojuro. The two will come face-to-face again in the Infinity Castle, and Akaza is more excited than ever to challenge the young Demon Slayer. The visual also highlights Giyu taking Tanjiro’s side, and it will be the first time the two will team up and fight side-by-side.

Tanjiro and Giyu Vs. Akaza Will Be the Best Demon Slayer Fight

Giyu is one of the most crucial characters in the series, especially because of the fact that he serves as the narrative catalyst. After Tanjiro lost his entire family and the only surviving member, Nezuko Kamado, turned into a demon, Giyu saves them from despair. Although he planned to kill Nezuko first, he realized she was too special and sent the siblings to Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira, who taught Tanjiro swordsmanship and Total Concentration Breathing. Tanjiro later joined the Demon Slayer Corps and continued his journey to find a cure for his sister that would turn her back into a human.

©Koyoharu Gotoge / SHUEISHA, Aniplex, ufotable

On the other hand, being a Water Hashira, Giyu and Tanjiro didn’t have a lot of opportunities to join missions together until the Mount Natagumo Arc. However, it was mostly Giyu saving Tanjiro again, since the boy was too injured after fighting the Lower Five. During that arc, Tanjiro had first used his Sun Breathing Technique, but he was nowhere near strong enough to fight alongside Giyu as equals. However, his growth has been phenomenal after the Infinity Train Arc, and it’s clear he has come a long way since then.

The fight against Akaza is a culmination of Tanjiro’s growth as a Demon Slayer. It’s also equally important for Giyu, who let go of his emotional baggage thanks to the push Tanjiro gave him in the Hashira Training Arc. The two now fight against one of the most powerful demons, giving each other the support they need. Both characters will push past their limits against the demon, and we will also explore more about Akaza, who is still a mystery despite being introduced several years ago.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle hit the Japanese theaters on July 18th, 2025, continuing the final showdown against the demons. Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayers are forcefully pulled inside the Infinity Castle, where the Upper Rank demons await them. Because of its massive global popularity, Demon Slayer often faces the serious issue of leaked anime images, clips, or sometimes the entire film, before the official release. While the latest Infinity Castle film has been released in Japan, global fans still have to wait a few more weeks before watching it in the theaters. Anime films often take a few months or even longer to be distributed globally, so this is nothing out of the ordinary. However, the gap between the Japanese and international release dates also allows leakers to distribute the clips that are secretly recorded on social media platforms.

Whether it’s anime or manga, leaks get a lot of attention on social media despite being frowned upon. These acts violate copyright infringement, and worst of all, they often reach a wider audience. The anime producers and studios are way stricter than the manga publishers, and they don’t intend to stay quiet after they noticed certain accounts sharing leaked clips from the film. While the official X handle of Demon Slayer hasn’t revealed the account IDs, they have broken their silence on the matter. Upon discovering that the film was secretly recorded by viewers, fans also expressed their dissatisfaction towards such acts.

Demon Slayer Official Account Confirms Taking Action Against Leakers

On July 25th, the official account shared a long message about the ongoing situation with a caption, “Pirated footage of the movie *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc, Chapter One: Akaza’s Return* can be found on the internet. Filming movies in theaters without permission is a crime.

The caption continued, “We intend to take strict measures, including criminal prosecution, against egregious copyright violations. We will continue to take appropriate actions so that you can enjoy *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba* in theaters.”

Fans supported the studio and even asked others to report the leakers by sharing their IDs. @NS12756917 writes, “Good work today. I know the response might be tough, but please keep it up. I think this person is also uploading illegally.”

@JxLnf2 shared the increasing amount of viewers watching the leaks, “I thought it’d be trending, and when I searched, it’s totally blowing up. Can’t install the app on iPhone, so I can’t see it, but it feels endless.

There are also cases where even reporting the leakers may not lead to anything. @ta_tor8 shares, “Just between us, even if you report it, it says there’s no problem, so it’s kind of a letdown.”

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle will hit the U.S theaters on September 12th, 2025. According to the official English account of the anime, the tickets in North America will go on sale starting August 15th, 2025. You can catch up to the previous seasons as well as the Infinity Train film on Crunchyroll.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is currently taking over theaters in Japan with its new movie, and the franchise has finally announced when fans in the United States will be able to get their tickets to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. The franchise has officially kicked off a new feature film trilogy adapting the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original Demon Slayer manga. The first film in the trilogy has been taking over the box office in Japan, and is already on track of beating out the impressive records held by the franchise’s previous original film, Mugen Train.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle had a lot to celebrate with its special panel during the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 weekend, and it was here that the franchise announced that fans in the United States and Canada will be able to purchase tickets for the new film beginning on August 15th leading to the film’s release later this September. To commemorate the announcement of the ticket sale date, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has dropped a special poster that you can check out below.

Demon Slayer Takes Over SDCC 2025

As part of San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Aniplex and Crunchyroll brought Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle to the famous Hall H with a special panel featuring the film’s director Haruo Sotozaki, director of photgraphy Yuichi Terao, Tanjiro Kamado voice star Natsuki Hanae, Zenitsu Agatsuma voice star Aleks Le, and theme song performing artist LiSA. During the panel they shared an exclusive clip from the film that was seen by fans for the first time outside of Japan (especially after Shueisha and ufotable cracked down on piracy of the film since release), and really got fans hyped for its official launch later this Fall.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and the film will be available in both English and Japanese audio. It will also be launching in premium and IMAX formats for those fans who want to seek it out that way, and now it’s been confirmed that fans will be able to purchase tickets for the film as soon as August 15th. As of this time, international ticket sale dates have yet to be confirmed but screenings in certain territories begin this August.

What to Expect From New Demon Slayer Movie

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be spread across three different films, with the first of these films clocking in at a hefty two hours and 35 minutes. Gotoge’s original manga arc of the same name was the longest in the series, and this film trilogy is going to be huge as a result of how much it actually needs to cover with each film. As Tanjiro Kamado and the surviving Demon Slayers fight back against Muzan Kibutsuji’s final demonic forces, fans are going to see who ends up surviving it all before the franchise comes to an end.

With the first film hitting theaters in Japan currently, and its launch worldwide later this Fall, it’s only a matter of time before the release of the second film in the trilogy is confirmed. There’s a hope that there won’t be too long of a wait before each film’s release given the momentum that’s been built up so far, but at the same time fans are likely going to appreciate the artists behind it all getting the proper amount of time to cook.

While the highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle film, the first part of the trilogy, has been released in Japan, the entire world awaits its release in their respective countries. Fans in the U.S. should mark their calendars as the film will the theaters on September 12th, 2025. The film trilogy was announced in June 2024, after the conclusion of the Hashira Training Arc anime season. Although this decision by Ufotable was met with mixed reactions initially, it made sense after the record-breaking success of the Infinity Train film. However, what’s truly surprising is that Infinity Train’s success didn’t play any role in the studio taking this bold approach to a series’ final arc.

According to Magmix, the Japanese theaters distributed special pamphlets to the visitors, which included visuals, interviews with the cast, and more. It also confirmed that the decision to make a trilogy was made after the manga concluded in May 2020 and during the release of the Infinity Train film in October of the same year. The trilogy has been in production for five years now, with the first part being released this month in Japan. Meanwhile, any information about the second part may be released after the global release. Infinity Castle is already making history in the Japanese box office, setting up even higher expectations than before.

Ufotable Estimated The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy Could Take Up to 10 Years

Furthermore, the pamphlet also confirmed that even for a renowned studio like Ufotable, adapting the Infinity Castle Arc was incredibly challenging. The castle is an endless labyrinth that always moves around, making it difficult to reimagine in an animated version. The entire arc is set inside the castle as the characters find their way across it, which makes it even more difficult for the studio. To adapt those scenes. Ufotable estimated that only the rendering (drawing in 3DCG) would take at least three years and six months per film.

This means that the entire trilogy could take more than ten years to finish production. However, the studio realized that it’s not a realistic approach, so they used expensive, high-speed computing machines to cut production time. Additionally, they significantly reduced the time required for rendering by repeatedly coming up with solutions to other issues.

What to Expect from the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Film

The story will pick up from the finale of the Hashira Training Arc as Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s death triggers the final showdown against Muzan Kibutsuji. The Demon Slayers rush to kill the demon progenitor, and even Tamayo managed to weaken him significantly. However, before they could defeat Muzan, Nakime summoned them all inside the Infinity Castle, where the Upper Moons await them. Since Muzan already dealt with the Lower Six, who could be easily defeated by a Hashira, only the strongest demons remain.

The trailer highlighted an epic showdown between Akaza and Tanjiro. This will be the first time they come face-to-face after the Infinity Train Arc. Additionally, the trailer also focused on Shinobu’s fight against Doma, the Upper Rank Two. We also get glimpses of several characters, with Zenitsu being the most surprising one, as he stares menacingly at a powerful demon, which is incredibly uncharacteristic of him.

Although the first part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy has made its debut in Japan, global fans still have to wait a few more weeks. Fans in the U.S. should mark their calendars as the film will hit the theaters on September 12th, 2025. Among the many characters who have been getting fans’ attention since the teaser was released, the one who surprised us the most is Zenitsu Agatsuma. The once loud and cowardly Demon Slayer, who will always whine about fighting demons, is staring straight at one of them with a menacing look. Zenitsu’s entire demeanor changed during the final stage of the Hashira Training, and the Infinity Castle Arc will finally explain why.

Even as someone who never really liked fighting, Zenitsu always had a lot of potential. However, he only knew how to use the first form of the Thunder Breathing Style. He was taught by the former Thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima, whom he regarded as his grandfather. Moreover, Zenitsu likely didn’t realize the true extent of his capabilities since he would always pass out in fear. Most of the fights he has won so far were through his subconscious mind, and he will often wake up surprised after defeating a demon. However, things will be entirely different in the final arc.

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga!

Zenitsu Taps Into His True Potential in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

Knowing only one form of the Thunder Breathing Style never got in Zenitsu’s way since he mastered it to perfection and used it at its maximum potential. The Thunder Breathing Style has a total of Six Forms, and Zenitsu will never learn anything besides the first. However, he achieves something only a select few Demon Slayers have done: creating his own unique form. During the Infinity Castle Arc, Zenitsu fought Kaigaku, who was also a pupil of the former Thunder Hashira.

Demon Slayer Zenitsu Jogoro

Kaigaku chose to become a demon, which led to Jigoro committing Seppuku. Zenitsu learned of his master’s death during the final stage of the Hashira Training, which strengthened his resolve to kill Kaigaku, who had recently been promoted to an Upper Moon Six. He even went into the Infinity Castle without panicking. The fight between them is brief, and Zenitsu wins only because he uses a seventh form of Thunder Breathing. Since the criteria for becoming a Hashira are to either kill 50 demons or one of the Twelve Kizuki.

While the series never explicitly said how many demons Zeinitsu has killed in total, he did fulfill the requirement by killing Kaigaku. However, since the series had already ended and all demons were dead, there was no need for the Demon Slayer Corps to continue. Therefore, despite having the qualifications for becoming a Hashira, Zenitsu never gained the title since the battle’s conclusion meant a peaceful era would begin without the terror of the demons.

The first entry in the anime’s movie trilogy finale, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, has premiered in Japan, and crazy reviews have started to roll in about the experience. Apparently this new film is “the best Ufotable production ever” and “the most beautiful looking anime movie,” basically saying that the new movie is going to blow the socks off of any and all Demon Slayer fans. Unfortunately those of us in the US will have to wait our turn, as the new film isn’t set to hit our theaters until September 12. But at least we know the experience will be a “rollercoaster of emotions.”

The official description of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle goes as follows:

“As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji. The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the Demons ignites.”

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is already in theaters in Japan, well on its way to becoming the biggest anime movie of all time at the box office. With Western fans having to wait until September 12th to see Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps return to the silver screen, many anime fans might be taking matters “into their own hands.” Like many other big name films, Infinity Castle is being pirated so that the first of the finale trilogy finds its way online but Ufotable isn’t exactly thrilled with this development. Releasing an official statement, the anime studio is clamping down on anime piracy.

Taking to social media, the official Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle team shared the following message regarding how they will approach piracy surrounding the film, “Pirated footage of the movie *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Arc, Chapter One: Akaza’s Return* can be found on the internet. Filming movies in theaters without permission is a crime. We intend to take strict measures, including criminal prosecution, against egregious copyright violations. We will continue to take appropriate actions so that you can enjoy *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba* in theaters.” Piracy and anime have unfortunately gone hand in hand for quite some time, and with the highly anticipated film only in Japan, at the moment, it seems like a prime target for pirates.

The Infinity Castle Swings Open Its Doors

Demon Slayer has become one of the biggest shonen franchises in record time, even going so far as to challenge Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates’ legendary run with One Piece. Despite its popularity, the end is nigh as creator Koyoharu Gotouge ended the manga in 2020 as the anime adaptation plays catch-up. As of the writing of this article, a sequel and/or spin-off series has yet to be announced though stories returning to this universe would be welcome by many fans.

As for the Infinity Castle, this Demon Slayer film is the first of a trilogy that has a titanic runtime of two and a half hours. When last we left Tanjiro and his fellow swordsmen in season four, the Hashira Training had been completed, but a brand new problem had arisen. The villainous Muzan had killed the head of the Demon Slayer Corps and the remaining Hashira were looking for revenge. In a titanic battle to cap off season four, the heroes were dragged into the Infinity Castle itself, leaving shonen enthusiasts with quite the cliffhanger.

Despite Infinity Castle kicking off this new film series, little is known about the next two movies in terms of their titles and/or release dates. Regardless, fans are crossing their fingers that they won’t be waiting long to see Tanjiro’s grand finale play out on the silver screen.

Ufotable is adapting the final arc of Demon Slayer in a trilogy film, and the first part has already been released in Japan. However, fans in the U.S. will get to experience the breathtaking film on September 12th, 2025. The finale of the Hashira Training Arc ended on a major cliffhanger as the Demon Slayers corner the demon progenitor, Muzan Kibutsuji. However, just when the fight begins, Nakime, the one demon who created the Infinity Castle, sucked them all inside the endless maze where the Upper Moons await the Demon Slayers. The Demon Slayers must deal with the Upper Moons before fighting Muzan Kibutsuji again.

The final arc will give a majority of characters their chance to shine, including Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira. He is the first Hashira to be introduced in the series and plays a crucial role in Tanjiro Kamado’s life as his biggest supporter. However, Giyu had his own struggles to deal with, which were revealed in the Hashira Training Arc. After getting a request from the Corps’ leader Kagaya Ubuyashiki and as a way to repay Giyu’s kindness, Tanjiro persistently stuck around the Hashira to help him with whatever he was dealing with. Giyu’s tragic past was holding him down, but Tanjiro gave him he push he needed. In the latest film, the two fight against one of the most powerful demons, and Giyu’s voice actor, Takahiro Sakurai, is incredibly amazed with the anime adaptation.

Giyu’s Voice Actor Shares Thoughts on the Character’s Growth in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle

After Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle premiered in Japan, the voice actors attended a special stage greeting to commemorate the film’s release. According to Oricon, during the event, Sakurai said, “What came to mind was the very first episode—the beginning of the entire series, when Giyu first encountered Tanjiro.

“And then that scene on the bridge in the Hashira Training Arc, where they shared a meaningful conversation. That moment gave Giyu the strength and conviction to fight as a true Hashira,” he continued.

Sakurai also added, “In this movie, we see Giyu grow even further during battle. Watching that unfold moved me deeply. At the same time, the scene reveals how harsh this battle truly is.”

Demon Slayer Giyu and Tanjiro

He praised the anime film, “Between the depiction of their breathing techniques and the beauty of the animation, there were moments where I was simply awestruck by the intensity and artistry. The fight felt like something beyond human limits. I was literally gripping my hands as I watched.”

The team up between Giyu and Tanjiro is one of the biggest highlights of the entire arc. Unlike the Mount Natagumo Arc where Giyu was protecting Tanjiro and Nezuko, the Infinity Castle Arc highlights the protaginist’s growth. Tanjiro is now able to fight alongside Giyu, as equals, instead of falling back behind him. Their opponent has one of the most devastating powers in the series, so the two push each other even further and tap into the powers they never knew they had.

Claymore anime

Most long-time anime fans will be more than familiar with Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba). The story follows siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado against the backdrop of Japan during the historical Taisho period. In this world, demons exist and prey on vulnerable humans. When their family is killed by a demon, Nezuko is turned into one of the violent beasts, prompting Tanjiro to start his journey towards becoming a demon slayer and to cure his sister of her demonic affliction. Demon Slayer blends elements of dark fantasy, historical drama, and martial arts to create a compelling narrative that audiences are entranced by.

Premiering in 2001, Demon Slayer has now accumulated four seasons and a series of theatrical movie releases, adapting important manga arcs to the screen. As the beloved show comes closer to an end, many fans are already looking for the next big thing to invest their time in. And while there are quite a few new anime showing plenty of potential, it’s important to note that there are even more older shows that encompass so many of the traits fans loved about Demon Slayer: sympathetic villains, a bonded main team, gorgeous animation, and epic fights. So, without further ado, here’s a list of 12 anime you might want to give a try if you like Demon Slayer.

1) Claymore

Claymore anime

Claymore is categorized as a dark fantasy anime, first debuting in 2007 with a single season. The story is set on an island where shape-shifting monsters (Yoma) feed on the human population. To combat the Yoma, an organization creates Claymores— elite, human-Yoma hybrids that appear as young women with extreme strength, durability, and shape-shifting abilities. Claymores are assigned districts on the island to protect, ranked by strength, and are tasked with beating back the threat against the population.

The anime chooses to follow multiple story arcs, introducing a wide cast of characters, including the main protagonist, Clare. Claymore delves into themes of corruption, humanity, and revenge cycles while presenting gorgeous fight sequences in stylistic animation. It begs the question: when a person is treated as a weapon, how can they keep their humanity intact?

2) Blue Exorcist

Blue Exorcist anime image
Courtesy Of A-1 Pictures/Shueisha

Blue Exorcist is a dark fantasy series with elements of horror and action entwined in the plot. In the show, two different worlds exist: Assiah, where humans reside, and Gehenna, a land ruled by demons. These demons are beaten back by exorcists from the human realm, an organization that has existed to preserve humanity for thousands of years.

The anime follows twin brothers, Rin and Yukio, raised by an experienced exorcist who has kept a secret from them both— they are the sons of Satan. When tragedy strikes, Rin awakens latent demonic powers that allow him to partially transform into a demon and manipulate blue flame. Rin decides to enroll in True Cross Academy, a school designed to train exorcists and prepare them for battles against the demonic threats. Themes that are big in this anime are identity, good vs. evil, and the burden of heritage. Blue Exorcist currently has five seasons available to watch.

3) Bleach

Bleach Ichigo

If you know anime, then chances are you’ve watched, or at least heard of, Bleach. The anime is classified by the fantasy, action, and supernatural genres blended together. It began airing in 2004 and quickly became considered a classic among fans, with a total of 16 seasons. Bleach is known for its fight scenes, character design, and fast-paced action. Of course, if you adore this Big Three shonen classic, you’ll be astounded by Pierrot’s animation for the acclaimed sequel series, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, a seasonal anime surely fitting the quality standards elevated by Demon Slayer.

The series follows Ichiko Kurusaki, a high school student who takes on the responsibility of a Soul Reaper after his life is saved by one of the shinigami. Soul Reapers have the specific task of guarding the soul cycle after death, fighting evil spirits to protect lost souls as they’re guided to the afterlife. It’s not long after awakening his abilities that Ichigo discovers corruption deep within Soul Society, a threat that could topple the balance between life and death.

4) Soul Eater

Blackstar from Soul Eater anime

Soul Eater has one of the most controversial anime adaptations to date, for one overarching reason: the manga was not close to being complete when the anime wrapped up, prompting a deviation from the plot. With that said, the 51-episode show has a strong premise and beginning that earned it a place on this list. Soul Eater is a dark fantasy show with comedic aspects that make it a fast watch. It ties together themes of teamwork, self-discovery, and the danger of hubris while drawing audiences in with an awesome cast of diverse characters.

In the Soul Eater universe, there are two types of gifted individuals: those who can turn into supernatural weapons, and Meisters, the ones who wield the weapons. Our main character is Maka Albarn, a Meister bonded to Soul “Eater” Evans, a scythe-style weapon. Both students attend Death Weapon Meister Academy, a school located in fictional Death City, Nevada, with the sole purpose of training meisters and weapons to perfect their craft. When an old evil stirs, Maka and her friends must band together to fight for the safety of Meister society as they know it.

5) Basilisk

Basilisk anime still

Basilisk is easily one of the most underrated picks on this list. The anime debuted in 2005, with a single 24-episode season. Basilisk can be described as a mixture of dark fantasy, historical drama, and action. It utilizes themes such as revenge, tragic love, and generational conflict while taking advantage of captivating martial arts fight scenes and a stunning art style. Fans might describe the show as Romeo & Juliet in historic Japan, plus a bloody clan feud that leads to ninja art battles.

Set in Edo-period Japan, Basilisk revolves around an old pact made between two rival ninja clans, calling for a ceasefire of bloodshed under the old shogun. Political tension has started to rise as the current shogun’s line of succession is called into question, with the shogunate at war, supporting different heirs. To solve the conflict, the shogun announces that both sides of the rival clans will send ten of their best men to support one heir, respectively, in a gruesome battle to the death.

6) Devilman Crybaby

If you’re looking for a quick watch with insane payoff, Devilman Crybaby might just be the show for you. Devilman Crybaby is a miniseries that debuted in 2018 with 10 episodes. The anime contains elements of dark fantasy, action, and the supernatural with touches of the classic superhero origin story. Throughout its run, the anime asks audiences to reflect on the dual nature of humanity and how good and evil can coexist within one person at the same time.

In the show, Akira Fudo is a high school student with average problems; that’s until his best friend Ryo informs him that during an expedition to the rain forest, he discovered the existence of demons on Earth. While trying to help Ryo prove the existence of humans to the world, Akira merges with a powerful demon and becomes a Devilman— someone capable of transforming into a demonic form. Akira uses these newfound powers to fight demons while dealing with the building chaos in a society, learning that they are not alone on Earth.

7) Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter Anime

Another popular anime on this list is Hunter x Hunter, quickly on its way to becoming a modern classic. Hunter x Hunter started airing back in 2011, and has six seasons, with a total of 148 episodes. The anime can be categorized as an adventure-style show with elements of fantasy incorporated. There’s a strong emphasis on exploring characters who are morally grey, along with subverted tropes that are typical in the shonen genre.

Gon Freecss is the show’s main character, a young boy who decides to pursue becoming a Hunter after learning it’s the path his absent father decided to follow. Hunters are licensed individuals who can locate hidden items, people, and places. Gon’s journey is one of training, self-discovery, and pursuing his overall goal— to one day find his father.

8) Fate/Zero

Fate/Zero anime still

Fate/Zero is part of the larger Fate universe (including popular series like Fate/Stay Night). The anime is intended to be a prequel to the main timeline in the original series. Released in 2011, it features two seasons with a total of 25 episodes. Fate/Zero is a dark fantasy mixed with action; it’s particularly notable for using historic figures from legend and reality as main characters.

The plot of Fate/Zero revolves around the concept of a battle for the Holy Grail— a mystical item that can grant any single wish. Those involved in this battle summon Servants, legendary warriors who will fight each other in the quest for the Grail. Each faction has differing motives and complicated pasts that make the intertwined web of characters a fascinating watch, especially when you toss in things like serial killers, legendary swords, and sworn rivalries.

9) Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a trending anime with a steadily growing fan base. It can be classified as a fantasy adventure show, and currently has a single season with 28 episodes. The series has been praised heavily for its reflective nature, philosophical outlook, and captivating art style. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End explores what happens after the main conflict; what happens to the hero and their loyal friends when the evil is defeated and life goes on?

It should be no surprise that the show follows Frieren, an elven mage who has previously defeated the Demon King with a crew of adventurers. Now, her focus is on traveling the world to pursue more knowledge on magic and the world around her; however, she promises to meet her old group of friends again during the next meteor shower in fifty years. The narrative is shown in flashbacks slotted into the present day, as Frieren reflects on the passing of time and how life changes.

10) Re: Zero Starting Life in Another World

A huge genre in anime is isekai: this typically deals with a person who is reborn or transported to an alternate reality. A standout name in this genre is Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World, a fantasy isekai anime that premiered in 2016. The show is known for strong magical elements and aesthetic art accompanied by undertones of romance. Re: Zero forces the watcher to ponder over free will and choice while maintaining an overall hopeful outlook.

The show begins with Subaru Natsuki being transported without warning into a parallel fantasy world. He quickly learns that this new world has given him a gift— the ability to rewind his death. Subaru decides to use this ability to help protect Emilia, an elven girl destined to become the next queen of the Kingdom of Lugunica. Subaru joins Emilia on her quest to rule, meeting new allies along the way, and juggling the pain of reliving and remembering his deaths despite resurrecting each time.

11) Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku

A part of the Dark Shonen Trio, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku is severely overlooked compared to its more popular counterparts. The anime is a dark fantasy but also contains supernatural elements combined with action. Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku has a single season so far with 13 episodes, and will have a second season released in 2026. Watch the show if you’re interested in body horror, fantastical monsters, historical period influence, and martial arts fight scenes.

The story takes place in Edo-period Japan, and follows Gabimaru the Hollow, a legendary assassin who has been captured and slated for execution. When every attempt to kill Gabimaru fails, he is offered the chance to live and return to his wife by the executioner Sagiri Yamada. The catch is that Gabimaru will be taken to the island, Shinsenkyo, a dangerous island rumored to contain the infamous elixir of life.

12) Dororo

Dororo anime
Courtesy Of MAPPA

If there’s a pick on this list that has been criminally underrated among modern anime, it has to be Dororo. The anime has a single season composed of 24 episodes, released back in 2019. It’s considered a historical dark fantasy, with themes of war, generational healing, and loss. Dororo is noted for having fluid storytelling and smooth animation that work to tell the story of rebirth-after-destruction, which it sets out to portray.

During the Muromachi period of historical Japan, a boy’s father sacrifices his organs and limbs to the 12 demon lords for blessings and prosperity. The abandoned boy grows up, named Hyakkimaru by the doctor who takes him in, giving the boy prosthetic limbs to get by in life. Hyakkimaru eventually embarks on a journey to regain his body, meeting a child named Dororo along the way. The two become a duo, fighting demons as they traverse the countryside, on a mission to reclaim Hyakkimaru’s stolen limbs.

Demon Slayer is coming back to theaters with the first in a whole new trilogy of films adapting the Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga series, and the newest trailer for the upcoming movie has dropped a new look at Zenitsu Agatsuma’s final fight. The main draw of Demon Slayer’s new movie outings is the fact that Tanjiro Kamado and the others have been launched into Muzan Kibutsuji’s titular Infinity Castle and are now squaring off for their respective final fights. Each key character has something huge on the way, and Zenitsu’s going to find himself in some deep trouble.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has released the first of its new movie trilogy in theaters throughout Japan this past week, and it’s been doing very well for itself at the box office thus far as it’s already surpassed Mugen Train‘s opening week numbers. To help celebrate the new movie’s launch in Japan, a new teaser trailer has been released that shows a bit of new footage. That includes a new look at the final fight coming for Zenitsu and a mysterious new member of the Upper Ranks.

What Does Demon Slayer Have Planned for Zenitsu?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is being teased as the grand finale for the anime, and it means that there are bigger stakes than ever for all of the fights against the Upper Ranks. Zenitsu has been teased to be one of the major fights to keep an eye on during the promotional materials released thus far, and the major tease has been his intense look as he stares down his mysterious opponent. But this new trailer expands on it just a bit more as now fans have gotten more of his motivation behind the new fight.

As Zenitsu states, “No way I am ever going to forgive him!” it’s now clearer that this opponent has some tie to Zenitsu’s past. This demon is not one of those who we have seen in action in the anime’s past, and it makes it all the more intriguing as to what to expect. With the end of the Hashira Training Arc, Zenitsu was shown to be much more intense than he ever was before. After he got a mysterious note, he even started focusing on his own training for the fights to come. Now it’s a matter of seeing what’s coming for Zenitsu next.

When Does Demon Slayer’s New Movie Actually Come Out?

It won’t be too much longer until we get to see Demon Slayer‘s new movie in action, however, so this greater Zenitsu mystery will be solved before long as well. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle will be releasing in the United States and Canada on September 12th, and will be launching with both English and Japanese audio options. It’s also going to be available in premium and IMAX formats for fans interested in seeing it that way too.

It has a runtime of two hours and 35 minutes, so that means there’s going to be a lot of ground to cover from Koyoharu Gotoge’s original manga. Zenitsu’s fight is only one of the major fights that we’ll be seeing across the three films too as Tanjiro and all of the others are going to need to take down some big opponents if they want to survive the night against Muzan.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki Demon Slayer

Although the story and the mythological references play a crucial part in Demon Slayer’s success, at its core, the series is primarily a battle Shonen. The story centers around Tanjiro Kamado, who loses his entire family at the hands of a demon, and his sister Nezuko Kamado, the only surviving member, is turned into a demon. He sets out on an impossible quest to find a cure for her and help her turn back into a human. Throughout his journey, he meets various opponents and allies, so the series focuses a lot on characters that are conventionally strong and have flashy powers to show off. However, this also means that those who don’t fit the basic criteria of being a fighter get overlooked since they don’t have any thrilling action scenes.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, falls into this category. As a severely ill and soft-spoken person, it was already hard enough for him to take care of the Corps and all the members. Even so, his presence and voice were comforting to others, and everyone just came to admire and respect the man, not out of obligation or a sense of duty, but simply because of the effect Kagaya had on them. However, beneath his kind facade, Kagaya was hiding several generations’ worth of anger and hatred towards Muzan Kibutsuji, which changed the course of the story.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s Powers Ensured the Survival of the Demon Slayer Corps

Those working in the Demon Slayer Corps, especially the ones fighting on the frontlines, regardless of their ranks, are fairly compensated for their services. In order to run such a large organization, the Ubuyashiki family needs to have a vast fortune at their disposal since they aren’t backed by the government. The members of the Ubuyashiki household for generations have possessed a heightened level of foresight that not only allowed them to avoid disastrous situations but also amass a fortune.

Kagaya knew everything that was happening around him, even the fact that Tanjiro is familiar with Tamayo, a demon doctor, who lived in hiding. After the deaths of Daki and Gyutaro, he knew instinctively that the terror of demons would end in this generation. He also foresaw that Muzan’s only weakness is the sun and that the demon can’t be killed even if he’s decapitated. Furthermore, Kagaya knew about things that no one could’ve figured out, including the fact that all demons would die along with Muzan. His foresight, paired with his ability to strategize even in the most dire situations, made him an excellent leader, worthy of earning the respect of the entire Corps. However, there’s one more thing about him that makes him truly dangerous.

Kagaya’s Sacrifice Triggered the Final Fight Against Muzan

Kagaya was already at death’s door by the end of the Hashira Training Arc. When Muzan came to kill him, he wasn’t expecting to be greeted by a frail and sick man. The Ubuyashiki manor was protected by demons for several centuries. However, Kagaya knew he had to take drastic steps to ensure the Corps’ victory, and so he strategically revealed his location. He did so in a subtle way that it would seem like Muzan used Nakime to track him down. When the two came face to face, Muzan surprisingly felt no hatred for Kagaya, only repulsion.

Just when the demon was dealing with these conflicted feelings, Kagaya blew up the mansion, which killed his wife and daughters with him. Muzan also took considerable damage during the explosion, but he could’ve healed immediately. Kagaya’s sacrifice strengthened the Demon Slayer’s resolve as well as baffled Muzan to his very core. Muzan could’ve never anticipated that he would come face to face with such a person. The explosion not only physically attacked him, but also hurt his pride.

It also gave Tamayo a small window to corner Muzan and inject a drug that would significantly weaken him. Kagaya used Muzan’s arrogance and the love of the Demon Slayers to his advantage and triggered the final showdown against the demons. He couldn’t have lived to see the sun rising in a world without demons, but he was content with the role he had to play to create a better future.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is on its way to becoming the biggest anime movie of all time, with the opening box office weekend in Japan already surpassing its predecessor, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Thanks to the shonen franchise’s recent movie campaign, the actors responsible for the Demon Slayer Corps are hitting the promotional beat to hype Tanjiro’s big finale. With all hands on deck to fight Muzan and his powerful lieutenants, Inosuke will be a key player in the first film of the upcoming trilogy. In a recent interview, Inosuke’s Japanese voice actor, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, discussed how committed to the role he is, even going through the Hashira Training himself.

One of the most hilarious training moments of Demon Slayer’s fourth season was Inosuke and his fellow swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps undergoing ‘waterfall training.’ During said training, the heroes sat beneath an ice cold waterfall, attempting to see how long they could withstand the extreme environment. In a shocking twist, Matsuoka Yoshitsugu underwent a similar attempt of the training, saying, “I never want to do it again. During the shoot, it was warm at first, but then the sun went down. I remember Shimono-san saying, “Matsuoka, isn’t it a little cold?” while we were moving (laughs). After that, the waterfall was also very cold because the force of the water falling created a wind.”

Inosuke Leaps Into Battle

Hilariously, the training has seemingly sparked an adventurous spirit in Matsuoka, as he wants to try something else that even Inosuke hasn’t attempted, “Skydiving! I think I’ll regret it after I do it, but I have to try it at least once for future reference. Shimono-san said it was OK, and next time I definitely want to take (Hanae) Natsuki with me (laughs).” While we won’t go into any spoilers for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, we’re pretty confident in the idea that we won’t see the pig-headed swordsman taking up skydiving in the film trilogy.

When last we left Inosuke in the Hashira Training Arc, he wasn’t around to confront Muzan with the other members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Not knowing what was transpiring between the demon lord and his allies, Inosuke was still dragged into the Infinity Castle thanks to the stream of portals surrounding the anime heroes. Unlike many other members of the Corps, Inosuke was beyond excited to be dragged into a brand new battle, wearing a big smile as he descended into the hostile environment.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is already in Japanese theaters, but Western fans will have to wait until this fall to see the movie for themselves on the big screen. The first film of the trilogy will hit North America beginning on September 12th, so you might be dodging spoilers for the rest of the summer on social media.

Demon Slayer Akaza Infinity Castle

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has already made its debut in Japan while global fans have to wait longer before watching the film. The final arc of the series will be adapted in a trilogy film with the first one marking the return of the series’ best villain, Akaza. The Upper Rank Three made his debut in the Mugen Train Arc and defeated Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira. Rengoku’s mission was a success since he saved everyone in the train as well as Tanjiro and his group, who tagged along with him. Unfortunately, the Demon Slayer Corps suffered a devastating loss as a beloved member and one of the most talented swordsmen met his tragic end.

Akaza quickly became a fan-favorite after the Mugen Train film was released, and fans have been keeping their eyes on him ever since. He has appeared a few times in the anime ever since, but the Upper Rank Three didn’t have any action scenes until now. He plays a crucial role in the Infinity Castle Arc as one of the biggest obstacles Tanjiro has had to face. The fight between them will be the highlight of the final arc with another ally joining Tanjiro’s side. The voice actors of Demon Slayer attended a stage greeting to commemorate the film’s release, where the voice behind Akaza, Akira Ishida, was also in attendance.

Akaza’s Voice Actor Confesses He Had a Difficult Time Acting Strong

According to Mantan Web, Ishida shared, “In Mugen Train, I was able to push through with just the fact that he was overwhelmingly strong against humans.”

He also shared his thoughts on the character in the latest film, “I felt that his stance hadn’t changed since he first appeared, but what’s different from Mugen Train is that the strength of his opponents changes.”

Further exploring Akaza’s character, Ishida continued, “His evaluation of strength is very fair. When he gets strong, he acknowledges it and responds to the strength of his opponents, which is what’s new about Akaza this time.”

Akaza Blood Demon Art Demon Slayer

Lastly, the Demon Slayer star also admitted to not being the strong type. He confessed, “I tried really hard to act strong. I was doing my best not to let it be obvious that I was forcing myself to act strong.”

Unlike other demons who crave human flesh, Akaza lives for the thrill of the battle. He looks down on anyone who doesn’t fit his criteria of being strong, while also admiring talented people like Rengoku at the same time. It’s also rare to see a demon skillfully using hand-to-hand combat, which is even a part of his Blood Demon Art. Akaza didn’t think much of Tanjiro during the Mugen Train Arc, but that will all change in the final arc. According to the trailer, Akaza is awfully excited to challenge the young Demon Slayer. This is a major contrast to their first meeting, where the demon simply wanted to get rid of Tanjiro, whom he viewed as nothing more than a nuisance. Apart from the thrilling and intense action scenes, fans will also get insight into his character.
